5/10 on Empire
Can anyone see any reason not to go up to 5/10 on Empire with a 3K Bankroll and the following stats:
BB/100: 4.15. This is considered doing EXTREMELY well. BB/HR: 2.81. Again a nice number. 4504 hands. Smallish sample size, but not so small that it says nothing. Probably means I am beating 3/6. My BB/100, BB/HR will probably normalize around 2-3. Anything to watch out for going from 3/6 to 5/10? |

Certainly seems worth a try
The question might be what kind of stop/loss you put on. Certainly there is going to be variance, but how to you know when you should drop back down? Is it if you lose $500?
But hopefully it won't come to that, and the only question you'll be asking is why you didn't make the jump earlier. Good luck! |

it looks like you have profited a bit over a grand playing 3/6, so why not take a shot with that money, and if you lose it, drop back down to 3/6? i think that it is reasonably well documented that you can beat 3/6, and with 1k, you have a reasonable bankroll for taking a shot at a higher level . obviously you dont want to only have 100 bb, but if you determine that you can beat this game as well, put your entire bankroll in play at this level alone.
im not sure if you multitable, but maybe you should try playing a mix of games first, as a transition. depending upon what you are able to handle, playing 2 3/6 and one 5/10 might be a reasonable way to protect against some bad swings in the bigger game. |

My bankroll is actually 3K, 300BB. I have been playing for 3-4 months, and have over 20K hands working my way up from .50/1 to 3/6 recently. I usually 2 table 3/6, and I think I am going to dip a toe in 5/10, and one table it a few times to see what it is like. I will keep you guys posted! Thanks for the advice.

Like others have said, if you feel comfortable playing with that roll, go right ahead. If you play scared then dont do it. You could lose 500 in your first session without making any major mistakes. And as long as you dont mind going back to 3/6 and rebuilding if that happenes, go for it. Just continue to play your normal game. Don't let the bet sizes cloud your thinking. It's always just poker, no matter what the limits.
As for things to look out for, sometimes the 5/10 game is tougher than the 10/20. I've never played on empire, but if the ring games are the same as Party, then i'll tell you that sometimes the 5/10 is tougher than the 15/30. A big key is game selection, one of the best aspects of internet play. Game selection is so important. If you find a reckless fish, put him on your buddy list, and haunt his dreams.

I see no reason why you shouldn't move up. Sounds like you are ready to me, and you have the bankroll to withstand a few swings.
