look how good i am
well i said i wont post "how should i hands" where i am just bragging... so this is my new type of post lol.
i'm playin one of those guys thats like "this is HU i have to call everything and raise everything and try to win every single hand no matter what cards i have" HU 10/20 bodog I raise to 60 with AKo. V calls. flop: 455 i bet 90, V calls turn: 2 i check, he bets 300 i call right away (to try to slow him down) river: 2 i check he pushes immediately, i call 1.5k with prob 1 sec. left he flips 8J. A high FTW. edit: this isnt a bad beat but it doesnt deserve its own thread anywhere else. move it if u want.

In addition it's unlikely he fires again on the river that large especially, unless he has 88. Maybe a set sure, but I dunno, anything else for sure slows down... I put him on marginal high cards or a miss FD and I was right.

awesome. ur call is even harder than mine IMO.
i cant explain how i know to make these big calls with marginal hands either, i dont do it often, but when i do i always seem to be right.

I have my flashes of 'gut instinct' that some of the top pros seem to possess every once in a while....generally Im right also...I wish these flashes would happen more often though
As for the bold, Keep in mind your was for approximately 14 times the amount of mine though lol but yea I know what you mean

Don't a lot of people (correctly) read that as weakness? Calling very quickly, I mean.

It'll be interesting seeing how well this translates to the B&M game when you get there.

I don't read it as weakness necessarily, but I do read it as a sign of not being VERY strong. In other words, when Zy makes that quick call with a 4 card straight on the board, I know he doesn't have the straight. If he did, it would take him at least a second or two to decide how to play it. "Should I just call now, or should I raise?" The instacall seems more like a club draw here. If I was the opponent, I would have fired on the river too and shaken my head when Zy turned up AK.
FWIW, yes, nice result here, but I think this call is probably slightly -EV in the long run... While he probably doesn't have the straight, he could be "bluffing" with a lot of hands that beat AK here. |

This is actually part of the beauty. It tells me he'll fire (a larger bet than it seems wants a call) knowing i dont have the straight...but i know that he knows this to and thus can fire large trying to push me out, making his range of hands much wider and making the % that im good increase
Edit: bc of this thinking (urs above) i often quick call with bombs, making it appear im drawing, then overbet the river (appearing to be on a missed draw) and get paid
