Default Ivey’s move – commendable or self-preservation?

Interesting to see a big (the biggest?) name finally make some noise on this.

Skipping the series is undoubtedly a major sacrifice for him, so he’s putting his money where his mouth is to some extent.

You guys think he deserves credit for this, or is just a case of covering his ass? Or is it both?

Probably a bit of both, but I give him credit for speaking up.

A bit of both. Some PPA douche said he was bad for doing this proving once again that the PPA is a joke.

I don't see it as a sacrifice, at least not financially. There will be cash game action all over town. He'll probably make more money than he would if he played tourneys.

Nevertheless, it's a good move PR-wise, and 'Tilt's inability to pay out player funds only helps the anti-online gambling crowd.

I guess he is in hopes that other poker players will follow suit and maybe have some kind of impact on FTP to get them to pay the players faster. I dont see it as 1 player is going to make any difference to anything but if its a start of something I say good for him.

I think it's both... and frankly, I suspect it's mostly self-serving - not so much to get people off his back with the "Where's my money?" crap, but to legally separate himself from FTP.

Unfortunately, I think this sends a bad message about Tilt's current financial state, but I am still optimistic I will get my money back, eventually.

I seriously doubt he's playing anything anywhere. This would have been all over 2+2 if he was in any high stakes cash game.

Ivey's suit doesn't help the US players get their funds back, but what FTP has done has been pretty awful to me. Starting with mixing the operating and player funds, giving players freerolls on their US deposits, and the simple lack of communication since black Friday.

I can't think of anything that Ivey could do that could possibly be worse than what FTP did. Also don't like how FTP been silent for 6+ weeks, and once Ivey sues them and puts out that statement, all FTP did was try to make him look bad. That solves nothing.

Dont quote me because im going by what my buddie told me, he gets those poker podcasts through his Ipad. from what he tells me is the FTP pros were paid from the money the players deposited unlike stars that kept all players money in a separate account. When all this went down FTP went to the pros and told them to please surrender all the money so they could pay the players back to which the pros declined. This could be a major reason Ivey did what he did.

Again I dont know how much of that is true, also I dont know who is at fault for that either. If its true is it FTP fault for bad money management and paying their pros with players money or the pros for accepting it knowing where it came from.
