Setting Goals (MTT, SNG, CASH)
I am going to try to make a set $$$ amount every week. I have a few questions.....
1) for MTTs, assuming you are a reasonably solid player, what kind of return % can you expect from them. Specifically, average % in money, average # of tries per FT, average # tries per 1st/2nd place finish, etc, etc NOTE: This is going to be fairly low limit $5/$10 buyins. 2) Have any others put together a series of goals (including cash games and tourneys) to make a set amount/week/month? What kind of success/problems did you have with it? 3) I have a pretty good idea of my win rates for the limit cash games, HU SNGs and SNGs that I play now. 4) Does Bet365 still have the monthly $50/$100 bonus every month?

I have. For a long time I just blindly said I wanted to make 100k in a year, deadline being Dec. 1st without any real idea how I was going to do it.
Then I read an article talking about how you really need to sit down and plan a way to make that money, figure out the avg. you need to make per week/per month, all that stuff. I figured out to get my goal I needed to make about $2.8k a week, but I set my goal for 3k a week and said I would grind $3/6 NL and below. When I make more than my goal for that week I decided I could play tournies with some of it the next week and maybe get a BR boost, but really I plan on all my money coming from just cash games. I had alot of success the first 3 weeks I actually stuck with my plan. Then week 4 i started running horrible and decided I'd just move up limits and win it back - which is always dumb, and I ran bad and lost more. So now I'm back to grinding, and I'm still on pace for my goal.

1. Don't know.
2. I don't think this is a good plan because of the inevitable swings, but having said that I think if you're going to have any goals they should be fairly long term (at least a year?)... otherwise a bad swing might make your goal for that day/week difficult to achieve which may in turn start to effect your decision making at the table. 4. Unfortunately, no they stopped doing that in favor of some points related bonus that's too confusing for me to stop and figure out (LOL).

the bet365 points thing is ok, you get LPs, you can use them to buy into a tourney, at a price of 100LP per $1. its confusing so ive let mine accumulate.

Can't stop for the week when you are done with that weeks goal. If you have more hours, play more and try to get as much as you can to offset the bad weeks. I think any weekly goal will be translated into a weekly number of hours which will have an average of the hourly rate needed to meet the $$$ goal.
I will be starting with the money I need to make banked and I will be trying to replace it over a period of time, so there is not wuite as much pressure as if I was starting from scratch and had bills coming in. I think, for me, sticking to cash games (limit O8B primarily) is going to be the best plan for the grinding it out. Then I like the idea of playing MTTs with "some" of the extra money if there is any at the end of a week. I would not use it all though since some will be needed to maintain an overall win rate. I suppose the MTTs would pay out too, but I'm not sure how much to expect from that.

1. At least 100% ROI for a good player, more for a great player.
2. Play at least 30K hands a month of NL 6max. Win more than 5PTBB/100 longterm. Continue to move up levels. Profit. 3. Me too 4. Ever since party is back on the gravy train, fuck prima. (Fucking Intertops, 200....hands.....left.)

The only goal I had was to get to a 10K bankroll by the end of the year. I have surpassed this, and then some. I really don't like short-term monetary goals since I know that anything can happen in poker short-term, and focusing on this will only lead to me getting frustrated and/or playing badly because I didn't meet some goal that was dumb to begin with.
I now want to accomplish the following things on a monthly basis, |
