Default Beat: Hundreds of WSOP players left with $10k burning a hole in their pocket

Wow.

Can't really blame Harrah’s here -- there were three other days with plenty of room to choose from.

Can't imagine what those side games must be like with all that extra money floating around.

WTF were these guys thinking? I mean, regardless of what day they wanted to play, it didn't even cross their minds to register in advance?

Really?

Is there some advantage to playing on day 1D? This sounds fucked to me.

I know a lot of people wanted 1C as they thought the online pros would be playing the majors. But I don't know about 1D.

I read something about this and it really does baffle me, I haven't and may never play in the WSOP but if the day ever comes that I do I will want to know that my seat is secure and that I'm in. there are 4 day 1's and I really dont see an advantage to playing on the last one unless you satty your way in and have to pay extra for accommodation, if you play day 1a and have to wait 3 more days to play again.

But the like of PA and TJ Cloutier really should know better.

Arrogant fucks think they can just walk in 10mins before its shuffling up and buy in. Im soo happy they couldnt.

Idiots. Id register ASAP to avoid disapointment. Its not hard, and it takes less time than you think.

ITs just the most appealing day.

no one wants to play Day 1A then have a 4 day break. Also people that work have to take off extra days/book hotels for extra time etc

Day 1B is July 4th. Who the hell wants to play that

That leaves Day 1C and 1D as the biggest draws....1D more so bc theres less of a wait in between playing days

Yeah, I mean, would you rather play 1A and wait 3 days to play Day Two? Or would you like to play Day one and Day two back to back?

It's gotta suck to be turned away from the ME with $10k in hand.

Even worse was a guy who showed up for Day 1D to play but then was told he had registered for Day 1A ... they were looking to see if his stack survived the day

Actually if you think about it playing 1a could be an advantage, if you get through to day 2 then you have 3 days to watch and get notes on players which you may not of come across, especially some europeans or asian online qualifiers that dont use PS or FTP.

So lemme get this straight. Instead of relaxing/enjoying Vegas during your three days off you would randomly pick a table during 1B study the players then hope that one of the players you studied both advances to day 2 and ends up at your table. Then for Day 1C and 1D pick a table and study it all day as well then hope that these players both advance to day 3 and end up at your table?

There will also be a boatload of players playing that dont regularly use FTP or Stars that arent euro or asian btw

jdiana hits a new low. I mean... W T F ? ? ?

As for this:

The schedule actually goes:
1A
1B
1C
1D
2A
2B
OFF
3
4
etc...

So...., it's really a 4 day wait from Day 1A to Day 2A and then ANOTHER 3 days between 2A and 3. So if you play Day 1A, you've been in Vegas more than a week by the time you get to Day 3.

Conversely, even if you play Day 1D, you still get a Day off before Day 2B and then another before Day 3. So that's why Day 2D was by far the most popular.

Still, no excuse.

Yeah ofcourse you might wanna enjoy vegas, but this is the main event and possibly worth millions to you, so doing your homework on other players might be an advantage i.e. noteing who's taking bigger stacks into day 2.

Players do get moved from other tables when they break so you never know who will be at yours even if they don't start there.

You're only going to see , at most, if you run around the entire room studying every table for ever a few minutes, maybe 2% of the hands played through the entire day. You're not gonna see alot of showdowns, and all of your studying will be against blind hands.

Yeah you are probably right, but from my point of view I would rather be in there watching just incase I could get a little piece of information that may come in useful at a later stage.

Plenty of time to enjoy vegas once i've won the ME and am a millionaire.

Well that being the case, just strictly out of curiosity...

You play 1A, advance, so you have a few days off, will they allow you to sign up for any smaller one day WSOP events in between?

There are no events in between. This is the Main Event. It's the last event.

But if you want to play across town or something, go for it.

As for thadeas 's nonsense about "studying players" during the off days, I think that is officially the least intelligent thing I have EVER seen posted on this board, and yes, that is including years worth of SWA, rookette, etc.

Surely, he is leveling. I mean, no one - repeat, NO ONE - is that stupid/illogical. I just don't believe it.

I should have put two and two together and figured out that MAIN event most likely means the LAST event. Lol.

Don't sell yourself short. If I'm not mistaken, they used to have smaller buy-in events that started AFTER the main event. In fact, if I remember correctly, it was in these events that TP final tabled?

We'll actually no im not leveling TP, you have to understand that i have never played any sort of big live tournament or any side games, so if I did manage to get myself to the WSOP Main Event I wrote what I think would be in my best interest to do, since i've never played at that level and may never do it again I would want to be in there every day watching the likes of Hellmuth, Negreanu, Antonious etc play and if by chance a no-body qualifier like thadeas1 manages to put the moves on one of those players then I would be very much interested to watch that, after all isn't that what Mike McD did to chan in rounders?

Also if you read it back I used the word MIGHT, doesn't mean it would be an advantage, it just might be an advantage, but i guess ballers such as yourself don't think it will be.

Yes im a donk, a fish and gg for pointing that out, but to compare me to SWA is just plain wrong, I have never and will never steal anyone's money.

All ive ever done on this forum is write what I believed, your american so you understand freedom of speech.

LOL. Go read a poker book. Or watch a video. Or freaking play, live or online. Or sleep and rest up instead of mentally draining yourself on your off days.

Or, if you really want to study live play, go watch some televised poker, where you can see all the hole cards of all the players at the table, rather than picking ONE PERSON at the WSOP where you might see their hole cards a few times per hour (max) and if you were 100% focused and studying them and the action the whole time, you might be able to get some sort of read on them and then JUST IN CASE they happen to be seated at your table on Day 2, you............ oh forget it.

I can't bring myself to even respond this any more. This is literally, the single stupidest thing ever posted on this forum.

Congratulations.

OK, I've educated many Americans on what "Freedom of Speech" means, I might as well educate you.

"Freedom of Speech" as guaranteed in the 1st Amendment is a constraint upon the actions of GOVERNMENT, not on the actions of individuals or private enterprise. It means that the government cannot make speaking your mind illegal.

It does not mean 1) you can say anything you want and not be criticized, 2) that your employer cannot fire your for saying things they don't deem appropriate for the workplace/industry, or 3) owners of private enterprise (e.g., TP on this board) cannot ban someone for saying something he does not like.

All of the above are fine in the US and have nothing at all to do with "Freedom of Speech"
