Question about Party's Step Tournaments.
Is it possible NOT to play in one of the "upper" level tournaments, if I were to qualify via Step 1?
For example... If I "win" a Step 1, which gives me a free entry into a Step 2 tournament, can I choose not to play in the Step 2, and keep the buy-in money as "tournament money?" (This is allowed on Stars...) Anyone know this?

They allow absolutly no cashing in of seats, PERIOD. So think about it this way by the time you get to the final step five game there will have been over 1800 people involved in that particular run and only 5 of them are leaving with any cash besides the $30 booby prizes offered in step 3 and 4. I was hooked on these for a while till I realized how tough it was to walk away with anything at all. Funny that people complained about how tourney pay outs were too top heavy and here we have a game with over 1800 players and ony 4 cash, really nice cash, but still a bad deal in the end for everyone except the rake hole.

hey
I have to agree I was all for it at 1st also wow $10 bucks for chance at 9k until I reliezed that same thing. Id rather enter a $10.00 buy in with 1,800 people which will pay out top 20 at least. Sure top prize isnt 9k but still alot better payouts. |

party came up with a pretty brilliant idea here, but it is only brilliant because they make out so well, and the vast majority of consumers dont even have a clue about it.
it really is unbelieveable what you have to do to actually walk away with some money in those tourneys. better off just sticking with the sng's. |

I was wondering when people were going to catch on to this. Everyone (and I don't just mean here) seemed REALLY excited about this when it first came out, and all I could see was 4 winners out of a couple thousand.
Where I do think there is an opportunity here is buying in directly to the final step (or even Step 4), and getting to play with mostly players who aren't used to that level of play. I have yet to do this, btw... just something I thought about. |
