Triple draw raise with 4 trips or 4 of a kind

This happened three times in an hour or so. .02/.04 limit triple draw 2-7 on UB.....

Players who knew what they were doing (enough so I can say they didn't think triple draw is a high hand game) raised after the last draw and showed down HUGE high hands (QQQxx, JJJJ4, etc).

Is there some convention (joke) I am missing here.

Obviously in .02/.04 this is no big deal, but I can't imagine paying to show that in a "real money" game.
