Default Playing 5/10 tonight

Logged 500 hands eariler at UB and ended up down 100 at 3/6.

Took a break and came back for my late night session at Interpoker. 3/6 was dead so I pulled up a 5/10 table and watched a few orbits. Looked good and I felt a little frisky. I just closed out the first table after 50 hands up $190.

Partially in thanks to this (i only got the last part, but you see the board.

SALATALI: raises $20
hotbird: calls $20
BoomBap: calls $10
----- RIVER ----- [7c Ks 8c 5d][5s]
BoomBap: bets $10
SALATALI: calls $10
hotbird: calls $10
----- SHOW DOWN -----
BoomBap: shows [6c 4c] (A Straight, Eight high)
SALATALI: mucks hand
hotbird: mucks hand
BoomBap collected $177 from Main pot
----- SUMMARY -----
Total pot $180 Main pot $177 Rake $3
Board [7c Ks 8c 5d 5s]
Seat 2: SALATALI (big blind) mucked
Seat 3: hotbird mucked
Seat 5: sirBLUUF (button) folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 6: BoomBap (small blind) showed [6c 4c] and won ($177) with A Straight, Eight high

I was ready to stab my eye out when the board paired but it held.

Why not 3-bet the turn when you have a monster with two opponents already in for two bets? You'd be getting at least an extra two big bets into the pot (at 2:1 as well!).

If you're only beating 3/6 for 0.5BB/100 (hey I read 2p2!), I'd stick there until you can crush that game. Although funnily enough in my limited 6-max experience I've been beating 5/10 at a better rate than 3/6 (+310 BB after 3k hands compared with +120BB after 2.6k hands in 3/6).

That was a turn cap I was calling. And my winrate is 1.42 BB/100 over my last 18k hands at 3/6. I just posted that 50k hand sample to get a feel for what people thought of my stats and to see if I could get anyone to tell me they thought it was variance.

I've got plenty of roll so I don't hate taking a shot at 5/10 right now.

$5/$10 rules. You're going to kill it.

How did your session go?

It's funny that you are now dabbling in 5/10 short, which I played for a couple of years. I've recently made the move (Well, dabbling) in 10/20. I'd be happy to sit at a 5/10 table with you sometime, if you're interested, and if you don't think that would be too bad for our EVs... You may benefit from seeing how I play, and likewise, I may be able to give you some tips if I notice anything.

Don't get me wrong, I would hope the flow of information would go the otehr way too - I'm always looking to improve.

No problem, man. Definitely got a ways to go. I'm happy with all of the 6-max discussion on here lately.
