Inaugural Bloggers World Poker Championship
Held at PokerStars.com

1,473 bloggers from around the world
compete in first-ever online poker championship

Los Angeles, CA -- PokerStars.com hosted the first-ever Bloggers World Poker Championship (BWPC). The world’s leading tournament poker site invited bloggers from virtually every field to compete in a free invitational no-limit hold’em competition, which attracted a whopping 1,473 entries. Bloggers from a wide variety of trades -- including gaming, media, fashion, politics, entertainment, and other industries -- logged on to PokerStars.com and competed for prizes.

In addition to the poker tournament, the BWPC allowed bloggers to gather online and compete in several contests. Prizes were awarded for Best Daily Blog and What Makes a Good Blog (Essay).

“Bloggers have become an integral part of the information super highway,” said Nolan Dalla, Director of Communications for PokerStars.com. “PokerStars.com is proud to offer the first opportunity of this kind, which brings writers from different backgrounds together to compete and have fun. This is our way of giving something back to bloggers who give so much of their time and energy to keeping us informed about so many important issues.”

Easy Wind, a 29-year-old consultant with a major IT services company was the grand prize winner. First prize included an all expenses paid trip to the third annual PokerStars Caribbrean Adventure, a World Poker Tour event held in January 2006 at the Atlantis Casino-Resort in the Bahamas. Easy Wind will receive an entry into the main event, which costs $8,000. The entire prize is valued at $12,000.

"Ever since I started playing poker about (two years) ago I've dreamed of rubbing elbows with the big boys I watch on TV," Easy Wind said. "This year I watched the Bahamas WPT episode with my fiancee and we were blown away by how gorgeous Atlantis looked and said to each other, 'we should go there’….I could not be happier about winning this event and will be counting down the days until the cards are in the air.”

Easy Wind will not only have a chance to “go there,” he will also compete for a chance to win what is expected to be a $1 million first prize. Other top finishers in the BWPC also received prizes:

I created a blog but I was a bit too late in registering. Out of 1300 players its tough to come top 9. I saw some of the final table. The prizes are pretty cool. Hopefully I can see some of you next year. if anyone has a cool blog I would like to check it out for updates on how to improve mine.

Thanks for the info Talking Poker!
