Meanwhile, Edog:
This is a fine example of why I won't be playing in any WSOP Rebuy Events any time soon. Edit: How great is this? Edog rules. Last edited by Talking Poker; 07-23-06 at 05:27 PM. |

I'd say a game like this is not for the faint of heart.
I just wish I had the bankroll to back JD in a game like this.

Sorry to repost all of this stuff that you can go read for yourself, but for those who just want the highlights, this is too funny:
I'd love to be railing this event. |

This is interesting:
How Many Does It Take? Some of our notable professional players are in for more rebuys than they'd like to admit. Some are flaunting their high numbers with pride. Take a look at what your favorite player spent on rebuys for today's tournament: Daniel Negreanu - 48 Gavin Smith - 12 Joe Sebok - 5 Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi - 11 Mike "The Mouth" Matusow - 21 Jennifer "Jennicide" Leigh - 3 Tony G. - 12 Michael Gracz - 4 Tony Cousineau - 2 Phil Hellmuth - 8 Allen Kessler - 4 Phil Gordon - 16 Greg Raymer - 5 Jennifer Tilly - 6 David Williams - 4 Clonie Gowen - 6 Phil "The Unabomber" Laak - 0 |

Check out Aeq's girlfriend (you remember, the new Poker Stars team member that he said is "ugly"):
Vanessa Rousso Eliminated.... Loses $1,000 A player under the gun raises all-in for his last $300. Vanessa Rousso is next to act and raises to $700. A player in middle position re-raises to $2,000. Mark Seif and Rousso are bantering back and forth with Rousso saying that Seif would double her up. Seif was telling her that he would bust her. All of a sudden, Rousso offers Seif $1,000 to move all-in and double her up. Seif responds, "I'll go in with any two cards." The two shake on the deal that Seif will move all-in with any two cards when the action gets to him. Sure enough, Seif looks at his cards and then moves all-in while Rousso makes the call. The middle position player folds and the players turn up their cards. The under the gun player shows K-K. Rousso is all-in for $6,000 with Q-Q and Seif shows... A-A. The board comes A-8-5-2-10, and Mark Seif eliminates two players in the same hand. After the hand, Rousso pays Seif $1,000 and leaves the room, laughing hysterically. After the hand, Seif is up to $42,000 in chips. |

Daniel just got busted... Crazy how this $1000 tourney just cost him about as much as the $50k HORSE event. Wow.
I know their is a lot of value in that all in in the dark every hand until you have a nice stack strategy, but I can't help but wonder if it's really worth it? I mean, surely there is some sort of still super aggressive compromise where you are only pushing in (or worse yet - calling all in) 75% of the time or so, right? Based on the rebuy counts above, it seems not all the top pros use the same strategy as Daniel. In fact, there were only a little more than 2 rebuys per player on average: Official Numbers Here are the final numbers for this event: Total Players: 754 Total Rebuys: 1,691 Total Prize Pool: $2,340,238 Number of Players Paid: 72 72nd - $4,095 1st - $631,863 |

I noticed the same thing. I can't help but wonder about the accuracy of that post... unless of course, Patrik had a read on the guy that said he was weak - but EVEN SO, assuming he has no pair, you're still a sizeable dog to ANY hand (but I suppose it's safe to assume you have live cards).
I have to think it would be better to wait for one of the next few hands and be the first one to enter the pot, but then again, with a break coming and the blinds about to increase again and maybe his table was hyper aggressive - you just never know all the factors that went into his decision... |

He's actually only 100 chips behind first too... Phil's been having a pretty nice series this year.
Here's Daniel's take on the rebuy tourney: |
