Default Wake up call from party poker.

After a long nite of drinking last nite and just falling asleep, my cell phone rings at 730 this morning. I dont even wanna answer it, but my GF picks it up anyway.

"Hi this is Don from Party Poker calling, can I speak to Ryan?" So she hands me the phone and I'm like wtf, I must still be wasted, there is no way there is anyone named Ron calling from party poker. I say hello, and he's like Hi Ryan, rough nite? Im like yes, can you call back later? He says yes and I hang up. I check the number, and it's a 519 area code. So he called from somewhere in southern Ontario. I say wtf again, but go back to sleep. Now I'm waiting on the call. I'll let you know what he says.

Oh, and I sent them an email telling them to close my account yesterday, so its probably about that.

That is..... odd.

I would have been PISSED if they called me at 7:30 AM. That's reason enough to close your account right there.

Just got a call back from "Jay". Dont know why I thought it was Don before, but whatever. Dude is from Ontario and seemed really cool.

He starts off the phone call by saying I heard you were unhappy about our recent decision to leave the US, and I'm here to answer any questions you have. He basically just restates everything everyone has heard the past couple weeks and emphasizes that they are publicly traded and that was the major reason. He also said they are definitely planning to come back hard if/when the US regulates it, pointing out what Italy recently did.

We shot the shit for like 5 minutes or so, I told him listen, this is my job, either you guys pay me well for what I do, or I play somewhere else. He definitely agreed with me there and said that while their main focus is drawing in more "FISH" (his own words), more VIP rewards for loyal players are in the pipeline.

Im still not gonna play there for the time being, but its nice to know that not all of their support are non english speaking retards.

Neat.

Maybe it's an ie only plug in. Must be.

You are correct - IE only. It uses an ActiveX plugin. I haven't ran it through IETab in FF, but I suspect that it probably wouldn't render there either.

Of course, I don't know that the FF spellchecker works in every type of input box on vB forum software. I tried getting it to trigger in this reply and couldn't, but could get it to trigger in a different simple text box.

And, Mayhem, nice job on the hijack!

Okay, to get this to work under the full, WYSIWYG editor, you need to right click on the text box and choose 'spell check this field'. This, of course, is under FF2.0.

If it underlines a word as being spelled incorrectly, just double click on the word to highlight it, right click, and then at the top of the context menu it will have suggestions or 'add to dictionary' (FYI - the word 'okay' is NOT in the dictionary but 'WYSIWYG' is...)

Back on track assholes.

Follow up email:

Hi Ryan

Thank you for taking the time to speak with me yesterday. I most definitely appreciate your opinions and take them seriously. I hope you took the opportunity to look at the poker volumes in the particular rooms I mentioned in order to ensure you that we are working on growing our patron levels constantly. I wanted to bring to your attention a couple of our latest promotions. You mentioned to me that you were extremely fond of the Red Carpet Promotion so please take the opportunity to read through the following: $15k Pay Day Promotion, The PartyPoker.com $75k Cheque-Raiser. I believe you would be most interested in the second of the two.

As a token of appreciation I have placed a bonus in your account of $100. Again thank you for taking a few moments to voice your concerns. If I can be of further assistance in the future please drop me a line.

Kind Regards

Default Please don't take this the wrong way, but ...

since we're on the subject of spelling errors....

" YOU or YOU'RE ": This is one of the common grammar errors made by most.

"Your" is a possessive pronoun, while "you're" is a contraction for "you are".

It's fairly easy to distinguish the two. If you're not sure which one to use, follow this tip. Replace the contraction "you're" with "you are" and see if your sentence makes sense. Let's take your beautiful quote as an example, Brian.

"Gavin I will always miss and love you, I admire you're strength. I love you my son."

If you replace 'you're' with 'you are', this is what get.

"Gavin I will always miss and love you, I admire 'you are' strength. I love you my son."

Doesn't make sense does it?

You want to replace 'you're' with 'your' - *poss.pronoun*, as in his strength.

Therefore, you'll end up with the correct grammatical phrase : "Gavin, I will always miss and love you. I admire your strength. I love you my son."

(I added a much needed comma and period, aswell.)

edit: Oh, one more thing...when it comes to sentimental phrases, there is no need for shortcuts. It would read much better if you added another 'you' next to 'miss'. "I will always miss you and..."

ps. Sorry mayhem, for the unrelated thread post.

I can't find the post (thread?), but Aeq spelled this all out for Brian quite some time ago. In one eye and out the other.

The funny thing is, I believe you were actually correcting him "nicely" in that post way back when - yet your tips were completely ignored.
