I think Pokerstars would be the best due to the fact that majority of people here have a running account with Ps.

And yea different buy ins would be great also.

And yes th minumum 30 woud be great so that way we can hopefully get he 18-20 because like you said not everyone will show. So if we get 2/3 to show we would be looking at 18 which is good.

And maybe i we do have enough player fo thetop 6 " so called main event " we could even allow other players to buy in that were not in the top 6 but for a larger price to add the pool for the main event. But the top 6 will generally get a free roll to the main event.

gimme your input

Default got idea

ok everyone should make 1 event a week right?

how about we do this 6 weeks long top 6 scores count.

2 games per week.

this way you can play all 12 if you want to increase your odds of getting better scores but if you only make 1 a week you still will get to put a complete score in.

Default K

K that would mean 18 events so lets say top 12 should count. that would mean you would have to try to make at least 2 a week which shouldnt be hard. Unless your good enough to win like 4 in a row then you might have enough points to get you in no matter what.

I can dig that.

Default keeping track

whoever keeps track of this i suggest screen shots of the torney lobby after the torney and posting it in a seperate thread. Also a point total for each player for that torney so people can keep track as long as they remember its only top 12 point totals that go towards there total points for league.

Exactly top 12 finishes count. Honestly i wont be playing the seven card stud events. The NL Hold em and Omaha events I am in for sure. So out of 18 events yur top 12 finishes count, that souds great.

So we will need to write out a schedule. I think saturday's at noon is a good time. and weeknights at 8 or 9 is a good time also. We just need to find te peak times when most people will show. Those of you in leagues prior can mostlikely fgure that out.

Going back to the buy ins for a second, doesn't really matter to me I would like to play in this if it gets going here but something to think about maybe is the kind of turn outs that you aim to get, just starting maybe you might do a little lower entry and buy ins to gather interest and results. Of course anything new will take a trial run so to speak anyhow but I would like to see something like this become a go. Interested to see how it works out and maybe heck , it could be a normal deal.

I think the entire league should be on one site (Poker Stars), and I think we should start in Janaury.

ok, i think this might be a tad more difficult to set up than i initially thought.

but, at least, let me share with you my general thoughts on the whole thing, for what they're worth, and being that i'm still a newbie around here, i'll simply let all of you forum vets/2 mods/1 owner decide on the final details, etc.

lets say 10 games in 10 consecutive weeks, most preferably on weekdays/weeknights, as sat/sun are big event/sat/qualifier days on all the major sites. i'd start in mid-january, or around/after jan 15, 2006, to be exact, so ppl have time to come back from any extended vacations/wpt bahamas/aussie millions/etc.

i'd like to see it all on stars and all NLHE. i fully admit to being selfish on both of these points, because stars is where i play only and NLHE is the only poker format i play/know/have interest in. however, i dont think most ppl will object to an all-stars league, being that most here seem to play there a lot. also, since NLHE is by far the most popular poker game anyway, i dont think an all-NLHE format should be a huge problem too.

lets say make the league events half freeroll and half buyin, and all equally counting towards the league standings. the buyin component, in itself, should effectively shoo away any potential remaining freeroll chasers. further, as i already said in the other related thread, there is a fine line between potentially a total chaos, if everything's totally free, on one hand, and very few, if any ppl, attending anything at all, if it becomes 'expensive' to participate, esp on a regular basis, on the other. to that end, i dont think there should be any league entry fee at all as well. also, i'd keep the buyin events at the min allowed pvt event buyin amt on stars, which i think is $5, or to be exact, $5+0.50.

as for the league points, i'd make them as simple as possible. the last league i attended had a somewhat complicated math formula, which i dont think is really necessary at all. i'd just award league points to all the final tablers of an event, and perhaps as simply as this: from 10 pts for 1st place down to 2 pts for 9th. or, if u want to keep it simple/'decimal', top 10 finishers: from 10 pts for 1st place down to 1pt for 10th.

keep the individual event prizes as small as possible, in other words no need to add anything extra to the prize pool, except of course for the freeroll events. give the rest/bulk of the total league prize pool to the final league winner(s) up/down to, say, 10th place.

that's it from me for now. if i have/remember anything more to add later, i'll edit this accordingly.

EDIT: two more things, real quick: 1) can u pls sticky this thread; 2) can we keep all league suggestions/brainstorming/etc in this/one single thread, just for the sake of simplicity?

yes!

with the crasher nonsense now behind us, let's talk real business.

i enjoyed playing against the forum 'regulars' and would love to do so again in a crasher-free environment.

let's hope we work out the league.

if not, and/or till it starts, at the very least, can we have (a) $5+.50 forum pvt tourney(s) on stars soon? pretty please!

Default Ok

here is what we got so far, its far from final but thought id get a clean post about it.

Buy in for league most likley is gonna be $5 or $10 for entry to league.

games will be held on stars and all tornies will be pay tornies, I really dont want TP putting any money into this. The guy has paid enough about time he got a break in my opinion. If he wishes to put something up at end of league for the top 6 people in league to play for thats fine.

I would like to alternate the buyins for the tornies but I think the lowest buy in tornies at stars are $10 is this right or can you also do $5 ones anyone know?

hold-em seems like MOST people prefer game so think we should do 2 holdem and one alternate game per week. That would seem fair to everyone.

participation in the weekly games is another story we need at least 2 tables to make the torney go for that day. So at least 20 people need to show up for the game if not the torney should be canceled that day.

anyone got anything else to add to this speak up.

I am interested in how the top players would be determined. I have a really small bankroll (like $30) that I have built up from my original winnings at the freeroll tournament. So if we need to play like 10 tournaments just to be considered, I would be hard pressed to determine if my bankroll could handle it.

(I would have to cash in every tournament I play in just to keep going.)

Also would it matter if say I did play 10 tournaments but they were all NLHE or all the cheap buy ins, ($5-$10)? I guess, do you get more points for a 1st place finish in a higher buyin than you would a lower buyin?

Default Alternate idea...

So, here is my idea for a modification of the league...

Option A: total cost to enter all tourneys-$65

1) 10 events over 8-12 weeks.
2) Each event has a buyin and there for a prize pool. (For example say $5+.50 per event)
3) Each player also puts in a League entry fee. (For example say $10) (This goes to TP via Pokerstars transfer prior to first event.
4) Winner of each event is entered into final tourney for free (out of the League entry prize pool)
5) Final tourney is a money tourney that anyone can buy into (amount based on the number of players entered into the league).

Example
15 league members

event #1
10 people show up.
$50 prize pool (distributed based on normal PokerStars payout structure)
1st place gets entry into main event

event #2
6 people show up.
$30 prize pool (distributed based on normal PokerStars payout structure)
1st place gets entry into main event.

etc, etc

At the end there would be at most 10 players in the final event.
Each got the buyin and fee transferred to them on PokerStars by TP.
Anyone who gets 1st place in more than one would get event still gets another buyin+fee for the main event.

So, for the example, there would be $150 in leauge entry money, so the final event would be $10+$1 ($110 in prize buyins) and the other $40 (or wahtever is extra) would be distributed to the players with the 1st, 2nd and third points as follows:

First Place = 3 points
Second Place = 2 points
Third place = 1 point

ALSO, the main event is an open tourney (at least to TP), so if you didn't win an event (or could not get in because you didn't join the league before the first event started) and still want to play, you can put up the $10+$1 to buy in directly.

Payouts in the main event are standard PokerStars payout structure.

So, say there are 25 people in the league, the final could be $20+$2 and still have $30 left over for the point leaders. Down the road the final might grow to $100+$10 if we can get 110 people in this someday!!

OPTION B: total cost to enter all tourneys-$50

1) 10 events over 8-12 weeks.
2) All events are private freerolls (obviously with strict requirements).
3) $50 is up fron t league entry fee to TP at PokerStars transfer.
4) NO RAKE!
5) Winner of each event is given an entry fee (via pokerstars transfer) for the buyin to the main event.
6) Final tourney is a money tourney that anyone can buy into (amount based on the number of players entered into the league).

The rest is the same ....

Those are my thoughts, not saying it has to be done that way, just another angle on it...

Also, I do like the idea (N1kita's) to have players pick alternates if they can not play (in either the points league or OPTION B above). Option A would not work with that since you would wither have to give someone your account or transfer them money which is just asking for trouble.
