I've never invested a single cent into online poker and have turned it into 4K and counting.

I started at $100, and have gone to over 7K in 1.5 years, very nice investment considering I would be doing jack shit otherwise.

Oh, and look, Swa was here today. We have a sighting.

Default yup

He cashed out to have a baby, then only wanted to buy back for a little.. so he did that.. and now is on the verge of cashing out again and taking a break or buying back in for a few bucks, I dont know.. I can ask him the motivation of not keeping his money in a poker site.

Default The deal..

Ok, My buddy who is not anything like me so should not be called a SWA, just moved his money around sites.. uses it to pay bills, etc..

Also, I am not all that impressed by any of the "amazing" numbers people have thrown out. I mean 7K in 1.5 years.. umm.. is that impressive? Assuming you only played 5 hours a week thats like $19hr, fucking make more working at McDonalds. Don't get me wrong. It is a good accomplishment, glad you could do it, it means something. It is a nice hobby. However, I would not consider it wildly successful.

The guys who impress me make that and more every month. I am obviously not one of those guys but something along the lines of a few thousand a month would be a worthy goal I think.. I get the sense TP makes decent money playing and maybe a few others.. but the majority of people seem to not.

what mcdonalds you know that pays $19 HR. Its impressive because it shows constant winning not just a big hit. Anyone can go on a run and make 2k in a couple days hell if I did it anyone can. Im more impressed by the 7k in a year and a half then any 2k in a couple days.

I am not really impressed by either. Yes, the 7K in 1.5 years shows the dedication and patients you need to grow a roll. That does MEAN something and I do not mean to belittle it. However, it doesnt turn me on at all. Obviously 2K in a week could be luck. If you do it over and over its more likely skill. Of course when I can do a few grand a month consistantly then I can talk smack. lol.

I agree Sir but just like me you have been down this road before and lost it. Why not try to keep it this time and not throw it away? Im not getting this I learned my lesson the 1st time and im not even remotely concidering playing 10/20 or whatever you are concidering playing. I know online its hard to think of the money as really yours but think about it man you might throw away over 1k dollars you know what you could do with that?

Not trying to preach or anything even though it sounds like I'am just dont want to see a post from you in a couple days saying "I hate poker".

Don't get me wrong... I'm all for people cashing out whenever they want/need to... I'm just surprised he would cash out $1960 in this case and leave himself with a lousy $40 to work with. Why not cash out $1800 (hardly different that $1960, relatively speaking (not even 9%)) and leave yourself with $200 (EXTREMELY different than $40, relatively speaking (500%)) to rebuild with? That's all I was wondering...

I do make decent money playing online - when I play enough. Most of the time, for one reason or another, I simply don't get the hands in that I would like to.

That's what I did (not the same numbers of course). Literally started out with nothing (freerolls at Bicycle Club site, won some change from that and a free Pokertropolis tourney entry) and somehow managed to go on a tear there to accumulate about $800 in a month. Of course it didn't last, but I did get a few free months without 'work' and some money out of it.

Default Day 4: Experiment

Well, day four was interesting. I have basically lost 4 of 5 hands with AA in the last two days. That has been fun. Tonight more of the same. 23 people left. I have 2700 in chips, with 300 blinds. I get AA. The guy before me goes all in. We are HEADS UP! SWEEEEET! He turns 77! YES! PAY-F-ING-DAY.. untill... the river.. when he hits his two outer. It was great. Really excited. No flush draw on the board. No possible straight. Then he rivers the 7. Well, that was it for me. I would have made the final table for sure. Not sure what place I would have finished in.

2 Tone and ChipFish

Just to clarify-
ur right i was asking about deposting options- and the reason i had to ask is bcuz i never have before- and i still havent since they wouldnt accept directly through visa.
I started off winning off freerolls, recently cashed out about $4,000. Left myself with $1,000 online and lost it in like 3 days. (down to $17) but now im back to $126 and still havent invested any money.

Just clarifying -, if i were u guys i would think i had invested $ as well but i honestly havent, and im also not saying its a great feat or anything, i am somewhat proud of it but dont think its anything amazing.

300 bucks of winnings is same thing as 300 bucks of bankroll, dont matter if you won it or not its still yours. You can still take that 300 and take the mrs. sir out to a nice dinner. You can still take that 300 and buy lots of porn videos, I know its hard to classify your money from their money but it is. I mean the night I lost 2.5k only $25 was money I invested but damit I lost 2k of money I could of taken out and had fun with. I wish to god I would of thought this way back then and you telling me if you lost all your winnings it wouldnt hurt?

I am impressed. Sir, you and I go way back - in Internet years anyway - but it seems like what you're saying is that if you can't win big, you don't want to win at all.

I'm more of the keep winning over the longer term, slowly growing the bankroll, and slowly moving up in limits. Hell, if it takes 5 years to regularly beat the $200 NL games, then I'll happily take five years to do it.

It's taken me about 6 months to comfortably beat the $25 NL games, and then the $50 NL games. Now that I'm playing the $100 NL games, I have no desire to move up too quickly, just to book bigger wins.

I'm quite content to take my snail's pace in moving up. Just some thoughts.

It's taken me 6 months to whore every single sight imaginable with 10X or lower clearing requirements, and now these sites are a thing of the past (seemingly). The only poker I've played lately is low buyins at PS and clearing bonuses at Party. The Paradise reload should be sweet, but I hate playing 10 handed limit on that site, too many hands to beat in O8 and I usually struggle just to clear the bonus and be up the bonus amount.

Yep, that's exactly the path I'm on too. Just wish I could get the MTT bug out of my system since I've only baby-cashed once in about the last 15 I've played.
