I AM GOING TO KILL YOU ALEXANDRE! Print it! edit: Okay, Killing him is a bit much. I won't hurt him, on condition he removes the picture from here and retracts his lie, of me offering him a date in exchange for the Party favor. Which never happened. La dernière fois que j'te demande de me faire une faveur, Alex. Menteur. TalkingPoker - I think WizeGuy should be disqualified and I think you should consider adding "verysolvent" to this list. He's only had 5 posts but ever since I asked him to come, he's at least participated and posted. That's deserving of something, don't you think? Last edited by bunny; 04-05-06 at 08:23 PM. |

LOL. Not quite. You must have used a translator. His french isn't all that bad. You have to remember, Quebecers are used to slang words, so we'd understand "poste" in the context it is written and not in the meaning of the word itself. If a Quebecer, such as myself, translates this; you'd get: I speak (write) a very very very little French. And thankyou for the photo sexy of bunny. Hawh-hawh-hawh-HUH! (My laugh francais) Wow...my french is shit, eh? Goodbye. (Salut = bye) First off, we don't have a stupid French laugh, we're not honky tonk people. We say, "eh" or "ay" a lot. I mean "a lot". We end it at every (verbal) sentence whether it needs to be there or not. Form of habit. LOL = RTF (rire tres fort) |

Maybe, but not this contest. This one is for the true lurkers. And so far so good! (Meaning, it's working, at least a little bit)
P.S. I like that you wrote "Print it." |

I was going for the France french, but bunny's Quyebec translation is closer to what I intended. I think eejit just did a sucky job of translating. That's what I think.
And I remembered the word for "write" - Sweet! As for the laugh, you know that old stereotype... from about 1000 movies and tv shows. It's not a literal sound - it's the "I am so much better than you" kind of laugh. It's a bitch to spell though. |

Hope you're joking. He's 85% French, so to see him even write this much, is impressive.
I'm not happy with him, posting my picture up, though. But knowing how he is, (like his namesake) my own fault for alerting him to this contest. Expect the unexpectable from him. Lesson learned. edit: 85% French speaking. Last edited by bunny; 04-06-06 at 01:22 PM. |

How can you be 85% french. When he was born, was the hospital an eight in the english sector? And when he popped out, his body from the knees down was in the english sector too??

Bah, I suppose for $20 I can give up my lurkerness (new word?).
I've been wanted to get into playing some online poker for a while now. I play the occasional home game here and there, but nothing serious. However, I do have an obsessive-compulsive personality, and usually spend more time reading and studying anything I do moreso than actually doing it (hence my lurking here for so long). Perhaps I need a little kickstart to get playing *nudge nudge*. While I'm certainly not a 'great' player, I can pretty much count on cleaning up on anyone who's bad, new, drunk, high, or just not taking the game seriously. I bring my chips to any weekend party trip to the cottage, and have my beer paid for by the end. I'm patient, understand the basic strategies, and can pick up on the typical 'newbie' tells. Against anyone who really knows what they're doing though... I'd have to rely more on a good run of luck. Something I've wanted to do for a while is learn how to play some limit hold-em, well enough to hopefully break even with some low-level online play. I was bored one day, and bought Helmuth's book, but wasn't all that impressed with it. If someone could recommend a good book, it'd be much appreciated. Cheers, ~Chris Edit: Awwe, why no animated avatars? I can't frequent a forum without my favourite! :P |

I really like this post, and where you say against anyone whose good, you rely on luck. Your basically suited to play any limit on party poker online, up to $1000NL, as they are all rubbish. |

I'd say "Welcome to the forum!" but seeing as how you've been here for A YEAR AND A HALF (without making a single post), that seems a little silly. Wow.... You joined this site on the 3rd full day that it was "live" - that's before nearly all of today's regulars. Crazy.
Anyway, now that you've popped your cherry, I hope to hear from you a lot more. As for your two questions: 1. Books - Do a search of the forum for detailed recommendations, but for low limit hold em, Small Stakes Hold'Em (Miller/Sklansky) is hands down the best. Lee Jone's Winning Low Limit Hold'Em is good too. 2. You are allowed to have an animated avatar.... once you get to 1000 posts. So, let's see... at your current pace, that should be approximately... carry the one.... yeah, right around the year 3504. Give or take. |

Okay, I'll let this slide considering you're drunk. If you don't want TP to see it, we can always delete our posts. But since you were the first ever to have one, I don't think he should take it away from you. I don't care to have an animated avatar anyway.

Yup, I remember someone, from another forum, posting about this "great new poker forum giving away money for posting!". What was it? 50 posts? Guess I was a little slow in starting . I guess I'll have to step it up if I want my favourite animated avatar... this post will be a step in that direction :P. Thanks for the book recommendations, I'll check em out. ~Chris |

I thought I had it set for 1000, but maybe not. Sure enough, if you have less than 1000 posts, this is set to "No":
-Can Upload Animated Avatar The only thing I can think is that jimmy did it before I fine tuned that rule. Thanks for pointing it out though, bunny. It's definitely not fair to everyone else that jimmy would get special treatment, so I'll delete it immediately. |

No, please don't. I feel bad enough for mentioning it. No let him have it. Please.
edit: TalkingPoker, why delete it now. If he's had it this long and no one seems to mind him having it, just let him be. Last edited by bunny; 04-09-06 at 04:31 PM. |

Hello TalkingPoker,
I am eighteen years old, a senior in high school, and poker is my dearest love. I used to play only weekly live games with my friends, but i had begun to grow tired of playing with the same people and for such a limited amount of time (i also felt bad taking their money on a regular basis :-D) So, i began supplementing my desire to play cards 24/7 by getting my friend (KMB4, member of this blog) to lend me a few dollars to play Pokerstars. I always seemed to build my bank up to $50 then blow it all in .10/.25 cash or $10+1 sngs. Recently i hit my big break winning $450 for my friend in a $10+1 deepstacks tourny on his sn and getting 50% of the profit i earned for him ($170). From there i had about $220 in my account and i was smart putting only 5% of my money into any sit and go, tournament, or cash game. Everything was going fine - i was hovering around $400-$500 - when my interim came and i had a D-, a C+, and some other not so good grades. My parents promptly uninstalled pokerstars from my computer and made me withdraw all of my winnings ($349). My current pokerstars account balance: $0.00. Now my only way to stay connected to the online poker world without any Pokerstars is by visiting . I enjoy reading about the bad beats people take, the situations TalkingPoker is put under in those difficult 90 man sngs, and all the other random poker talk on this site. Reading people's accounts is the closest thing to actually playing. Since i am not playing i have nothing to post, but i still visit this blog frequently. My parents are going to let me play Pokerstars again in May when AP exams are finally over, but the problem is i have no way to deposit, and all of my friends are out of Pokerstars money. I know I am probably not the most deserving blogger for this $20, but i feel that if i get the $20 i will be smart with it (play .01/.02 NL and $1.20 sngs) and hopefully build-up a bankroll big enough to safely play those 90 man $50+5 sngs with Talking Poker himself! :-D |
