OMG,

If you watched EVERY game of his college-career you wouldn't say that about my boy Drew. The signs were always there. I knew he had the heart of a champion.

When the Chargers drafted Rivers, my boys breaks out and goes All-Pro. They asked him before the pro bowl, after the previous season and the drafting of Rivers, was he surprised to be where he is. He straight up told them no, he expected to be there. He demanded it of himself. That's how it's always been with him.

Senior year, we're down 28-10 at the half, at home to Michigan. All of my friends in our section at Ross-Ade are just cussing and bitching, throwing in the towel. I looked at everybody calmly and said, shut the fuck up, we've got Brees and we're gonna win this game. We're getting the ball to start the 3rd, and we're going to score. Then we hold, and we score again. And we're right back in it.

The rest is history and Brees does exactly what I predicted and we go on to win the game in dramatic fashion.

It was like that every game with him. He's got that "something special" that not everybody has inside them. Heart of a champion.

I just wonder if the Chargers are going to keep Brees and trade Rivers or keep Rivers and trade Brees. They can't really afford to keep both can they? Maybe they will trade Brees to the Bears!

I didnt mean he didnt show life IN COLLEGE... I meant in the NFL... he was going to be a bust till Rivers showed up and Brees finally turned the corner..

IN college on the other hand... I thought this kid was amazing, I really did. Im a buckeyes fan but watching Brees play, I always thought that he was going to be a great NFL player. He played like Doug Flutie, the undersized QB with a heart of a champion.

Then he got drafted early in the 2nd rd by the chargers and a few years passed and I thought he was done and was going to be a bust then they drafted Rivers and Brees has a career year and is finally becoming the QB I thought he would be.

Also Tiller is known for creating QBs that are better than they really are but I still thought Brees was special.

That summer, when they drafted Rivers, I was talking to my old roommate. He loved Purdue more than his mother, I swear. He called me and told me Brees wasn't going to be anything in the Pros. I cussed him out. There was just no doubt in my mind. Ever. I don't know what it is/was.

God, the sweet vindication that very next season.

yeah I bet going to Purdue and being at school while watching Brees played makes it even better.

I just hope he keeps it going, I really do like Brees.

Since Marty Shottenheimer is a fuckin moron, he played Brees that final meaningless game and Brees got his shoulder fucked up. 4 months rehab I believe. So Brees might not ever be the same again. Marty should've started Rivers that game, but for some idiot reason he didn't. That is the big question now, will Brees be the same QB he was before the injury.
