Strategy 9 - The Art of Bluffing

Today lets talk about the art of bluffing. Mind you bluffing is an
art and if you can master it you will win more than you ever
dreamed. Uh... I suppose

Believe me when I say this, bluffing is truly an art. Think of a
concert pianist with fingers that effortlessly dance across the
keyboard making beautiful music- a great Hold 'Em player can bluff
his way around the table just as easily. Again...I suppose

It is harder to bluff on the Internet than it is in person.
Because of the limited tells, more often than not, players will
play their hand rather than the person they are playing. This is
not to say that it is impossible to bluff an Internet Hold 'Em
game, but be very selective when you do. Sounds decent

If you are attempting to bluff with a losing hand, it is wise to do
so pre flop and post flop only. Continuing a bluff on the turn or
river is very dangerous. If you haven't bluffed them out by the
turn card, chances are you're not going to. I didn't know you could attempt a bluff with a winning hand ... so are you basically saying never bluff, only make continuation bets or bluff preflop (wtf)?

Bluffing must be in your bag of tricks if you want to become a
great Hold 'Em player. There is no way around it. Just understand
that you'll win some and you'll lose some. However, once you get
your "bluffing" feel you'll win a lot more than you'll lose. Yea... after this detailed break-through you're right!

Pre Flop Bluff
Sitting at the big blind is a great time to conduct a pre flop
bluff. There are no cards out and even if someone has a solid hand
like KQs they can easily put you on KK or AA. It's a tough call
for them. Most of the time they'll fold. Ummm.... WHAT This has to be a joke right?

Beware; if you raise and you're called by more than one person
chances are they got you beat. So get out as quickly as possible!
When bluffing from the blind position you are really only concerned
with "stealing the other blind" and nothing more. So raise from the BB on a bluff... then if you're called surrender the hand as quickly as possible bc you're beat...fantastic stuff

Post Flop Bluff
Now consider the post-flop bluff from a blind position assuming you
have one or more callers.

If an Ace shows on the flop, you have the option of raising the bet
to see if they have it. If they don't chances are they'll fold
because their K or Q will not hold up to your Aces. Their K or Q? WHAT? And what raise... you act first!

Quick Tip
Warning! Bad players can not be bluffed. They are "calling"
machines. They wait for the flop, the turn and the river to "see
what they get." This is why there is a Hold 'Em Conspiracy. The
top pros want these players out. They get lucky now and again and
really set the table reeling. Um.... SAY WHAT? The top pros want calling stations (or machines i guess) OUT...bc they make bad calls and can sometimes get lucky????? I'm sorry but.....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA....ok.
