Default Playing bad on tilt

anyone ever notice when your playing and you take some pretty bad beats do you just start playing crap you normally wouldnt like say 10-8 and stuff like that trying to force hands. I notice I did this today I lost like 8 dollars in a couple hands in a .25/.50 game and started playing stupid stuff I was like what the fuck am I doing and I got up from the table. Anyone else ever do this?

Of course, it happens all the time, thats why they call it tilt. If you had enough discipline to get up from the table then you are better off than most players, much better. Alot of players will stick another rack or so just dumping chips on any suited cards or connecters, sad really.

Playing 10-8 isn't exactly a crime, might not be the best long term play, but everyone has experienced a bad beat before and everyone has dealt one to another player, that's just how the cards go...just have to move on

Well there're varying degrees of tilt... Personally my favourite is extreme tilt. Going all in with j4o and showing after they all muck. then going all in with AA next hand and getting 3 callers. oooh baby good times .

It's strange that I have never experienced limit tilt [edit: yet]. At least when I played NL I could find excuses to justify lame calls because of potential 'implied odds'. lol! These magical words can turn any hand in NL to gold .

Cheers,

Gutzz

Well it all depends on your position, number of players in the pot, and the player you're facing....but 10 8 isn't that bad of a hand. I mean there is the straight possibility.....in now way am I implying you should play this hand that often. But if you play against a very tight player heads up in a pot, you can play just about any two cards and take it away. Then again, if it's online low limit poker, forget it...it's no fold'em hold'em time

Are you guys talking about T8o or T8s? If it's unsuited I dump it. BUT if it's suited... I dump it. lol!

Honestly, I don't know how you guys can say it's an awful hand. Especially if it's suited. Don't tell me you guys never played J9 suited before....it's basically a similar type hand. More often than not, you're going to end up mucking it and paying the BB.

Personally, I hardly ever play 10 8 off unless I'm in the blinds. I would play 10 8 suited just about every chance I could limp into a pot in limit. In NL, those hands are generally thrown away, depending on position and chip stack of you and your opponents.

Default I don't tilt, at least not like that

Sure I get angry if I run into a bad beat, even to a point of expressing my anger to my opponent, which I know I should never do. But I can't see letting it impact my choice of hands, which just seems crazy to me. I don't have all that many strengths as a player, a bunch of weaknesses (short-handed being the worst), but this is just not a problem for me.

Funny........I was just watching the rerun of Bad Boys of Poker on WPT and I was going to post that Gus Hansen's call with 10 8 suited to Antonio E's 77 never stops cracking me up. Antonio's "I don't get it, I just don't get it" is classic.

Finding this 10 8 stuff in this thread is kind of freaky though.

I would say in limit or NL you are hoping for a PERFECT miracle flop with 10 8 (suited or not). You will almost never have the nuts, and you always have to be careful with it.

Default It's funny

If the situation is right I'll limp with J/9 suited, but almost always fold 10/8. You are right, there's no real difference, but having that face card, low as it as may be, gives me just that much more confidence. Not really rationale when I type it out in black and whaite, but there it is.

10-8 suited is good for a straight and a straight only.... most of the time
