The good, the bad and the ugly.
The Bad: Down 4 buyins today.
The Ugly: Had a terrible day today. Ran incredibly bad and suffered ridiculous beats. AA vs JJ allin on preflop, asshole hits a flush. KK vs AQ allin on a 87J rainbow flop, asshole hits a straight. 86 vs TQs allin on a 975 rainbow flop, asshole rivers a flush. JJ vs 4d2d allin on a 48JdAd board, asshole rivers his flush. They just coming and coming. Sucked ass. And every good hand that didn’t get suckout on, I didn’t get paid off. It is like they knew what was coming, when to call the raises preflop and flop, knowing the miracle would come. And if no miracle was destined, they knew to fold early. The good-I never tilted, played my game and then walked away down 4 buyins generally happy with my play, pissed at variance. Of course I kicked the dog, and that helped. And I am playing with a 30-35 buyin bankroll (at the start of the day). So what did I learn? I think that 20 buyins is too short of a bankroll for me. Had I just lost 20% of my bankroll, I am not sure how I would have handled it. But now, I am able to look over the stats, replay lots of hands and realize that I played well, just shit luck. And this is better than the bitchy bad beat post I was going to write. |

Variance is a bitch, ain't it?
I've been dealing with a similar run the last couple weeks, where it seems like you drew the table full of clairvoyants or something. You know that's crazy, but it really can start to get to you after a while, good job keeping your cool.

It has been preached from a good source to use 50buyins per level.

yeah that might be something more in my comfort range, particularly after today.
Played a 1 hr session this evening, thinking I was playing well (except for the results) and usually don't get a lot of time to play so I have to take advantage of the opportunity. Lost another 4 buyins. Went back and looked at every hand. I think I played great. My favorite was getting allin preflop AA vs K7s (yep) and the board coming K7bendovertellmeyoulikeitmelioris. The worst part is I wished I could beat myself up over some part of it and learn from it, other than variance is a fucking bitch. I guess this could be move to the bad beat section, as other than I still think I like the game and can beat it, I got nothing. Next time I don't have the kids during the day, I think I'll do something more productive with my time. Yeah, right. Oh, and those large "sustainable" win rates I talked about penguinfan, took a little bit of hit today, but still I think they are close for full ring game at $25NL and $50NL, but this 6-max NL, it is a different creature. |
