Not to make a bad day worse, but if this were in the "How should I have played it" section, I would tell you that you NEVER should have been in that hand, with the short stack being so close to elimination.

I'm assuming this was the bubble of a SNG right?

It's not like he put his stack in preflop.

I know, but you don't set-mine with 10xBB on the bubble with somebody else at 2.5x. Maybe I came on a little strong there, but I stick with what I said. Obviously you can't be faulted for going broke after flopping a set.

online no, majority of my poker playing happens in the casino itself, i play $75 sng's there regularly. I normally play online for play money or small stakes.

no he is absolutely correct, and yes i know it looks horrible being that the guy had such little in chips... but i did flop a set. It would be understood if Iput it all in pre flop with 44. what are the chances of set over set, i know it is a very rare possibility. In the end i am playing for the win, would you have folded the 44 pre flop there? Now that I look back on it yes I very well could have. To be honest i should not have seen a flop until this guy blinded out/lost and made the money that way. But in the end i was playing for the win, and it doesnt bother me going all in with a set and losing to another set... as well as last week in the casino all in with the straight flush 45678 of diamonds to 678910 of diamonds. shit happens man..

but in that position i will not see another flop with somene so low... thanks for the input guys

Absolutely right. And I didn't mean to come down so hard, especially if it was a shitty night.

But yeah, I would definitely say that you don't need to be calling raises to see a flop with 44 or similar hands in that situation. If you don't hit a set, you've wasted a lot of chips. You should only be playing premium hands in that situation.

i agree with you, but with the 44 the other guy was so low on chips i would not have gone all in after the flop unless i did find a 4. But since there are only two more fours in the deck my chance are not great of seeing a 4therefore i should not being seeing that flop having my opponent so low on chips me going to the bubble. But believe me all these things come into my mind and thats why i say it was a shitty night because it all went down perfect and i got caught with a set over set situation. I made a few bad decisions last night, playing in the 20 man SNG i was 1st of 19 at one point and ended up finishing 10th, big melt down there i should have easily flown to the final table. Played a hand bad there and ran into QQ, at that point with him raising and me reraising and him instantly come over the top i still called with 99 or 1010 i forgot what i had when i usually lay that hand down.

Then again you live you learn, that shit will not happen to me again in another SNG nor will it on the verge of a final table.

Thats why I post my hand histories and stories here of poker because I am welcome and accept the criticism from everyone because it makes me better in the end. Thanks for the input

By the way that guy ended up finishing 2nd place for around $750 dollars when I finished 10th for $45 dollars. Seems as if me overplaying my hand and doubling him up propelled him to the final table and $750

Irrelevant. There are thousands of things you could focus on (say, for example from a PokerTracker/stats perspective), but instead you focus on this. Not good, IMO.

no youre right, but i cant help but dwell on the fact that i was 1st of 19, and ended up finishing 10th. That bothers me, 1st place took $1080, and i took a tiny $45 dollar payout for donking off my chips. In my opinion its great that i dwell on that, that way i do learn from it.

i know what you mean, but i am not heartbroken by it either because within the past few months i have seen a great gain in my gain. I have been able to make a stead income off of poker through the past few months ( it is a tiny profit compared to some of higher rollers here ), but to me it means the world. My stats as of late since June 10th i have been $1,700+ in poker mainly through SNG's at the casino, another lesson learned in my opinion.

1st/19 in a 20 man SNG is like being ahead 2-0 in an NBA basketball game.
