Passive boy needs answers
I think that I lose a lot of profits by not value betting the river sometimes. I guess my dilemma is distinguishing between when to value bet and when not to. (Only time they call is when your beat.) Any insight here would be a great help to one of my current leaks that I am trying to fill.

"It depends" Yeah I know I'm an asshole.
Post some hands in this thread where you were unsure to start off with. Value betting the river is one of the trickiest things to master in NL holdem. I can see this being a good thread.

Agreed - it's tricky. You need to figure out not only IF you should bet, but how MUCH you should bet.
Ideally, when you have the best hand, you will bet the maximum amount of money that our opponent will call with a worse hand. And when you have the worst hand and want to bluff, you will bet the minimum amount that you can bet to get your opponent to fold a better hand. Easier said than done. |
