Default 6-max strategy

So, I've recently played 500 hands of 6-max Limit, at .05/.10, to try and get a feel for the game. I'm doing this at Titan because that's where I happen to have a bonus I'm clearing.

I've tried 6-max before (at PokerStars, I think it was) and couldn't get the hang of it. Over this most recent 500 hands, though, I'm up 23 BB/100. Partly it's the passive players at Titan, and partly I've had luck with TP's strategy of picking on players who are sitting with less than 12BB - I can usually find a table with two or even three of them.

My question is, how many hands do I need to play before I move up a level? My bankroll supports it but I'm not sure 500 hands proves anything. 23 BB/100 is clearly not sustainable and doesn't prove anything either. Should I play another 500? Another 4500?

The number of hands you have played is completely insignificant, but if you are beating this game (even if you weren't) and your bankroll supports it, move up. For God's sake, you are playing .05/.10. At 23 BB/100, that's only $2.30 per 100 hands!!! You could win 1 BB/100 at $1/$2 and pretty much break even.

BTW - my hunt the short stack strategy is more for NL, but it has some value with limit too - probably not at this level though, when you are talking about players sitting with $1.

In addition, if you're going to try to clear a Titan bonus at those levels it will take you... oh... about 20 years.

I haven't gotten a single bonus point from those 500 hands!

I'm clearing the bonus veeeerrrrry slowly at .50/$1, but that's full ring. The 6-max is for variety and to learn something new - but Titan is where my eggroll is, so that's where I'm playing the 6-max too.

I've found it has a lot of value. It's amazing, but there are two types of players at these tables - ones who sit down with $5-$6, and those who sit with $1.50 or less. I have yet to see someone sitting with .60 or buy in for the default $1 and have them not to turn out to be a bad player of some description.

So, I find a table with two or three of these people, assume they are donkeys and the others are good players, and adjust my assumption as I play. It's working remarkably well.

I hate the fact that Titan isn't compatible with PokerTracker, but their hand history window sure is pretty. I keep it up all the time, obviously, and I've started keeping player notes - something that I haven't done since my early playing days, and I see now that I never did it very effectively back then.

The good news is - Titan just started saving the HHs to the hard drive so Pat is working on making PT compatible with the Titan HHs. They save in XML format so it's taking some work apparently. Look for it soon in a beta version.

So move your eggroll somewhere else that has a better bonus for you to clear! You already got free money from me for depositing at Titan (transferred today), so why not move somewhere else and get more free money from me, plus a more easily cleared bonus to work on?

My next suggestion for you is .

Why?

1. I can give you a nice kickback for making just a $100 deposit and playing at least 250 raked hands (even micro limits).
2. Their bonus is easier to clear than Titan's (It was when I cleared it anyway)
3. They have terrible players.

It's certainly not the best site in the world, but it's better than Titan, IMO, and when you throw in MY bonus, it's a nice egroll booster.

A better bonus? What's better than 100%???

I'll go to Pacific next, but in the meantime I have the patience (and the time right now) to chip away at my Titan bonus.

I gave you $40 for signing up at Titan, and I'll give you $60 for Pacific.

60 > 40. It's just math, MathBabe.

As for the %, that means nothing. A site could give you a 10,000% bonus, but if it's impossible to clear more than 5 cents of it per year, you'd be better going with a 1% bonus that is easy to clear (provided you deposit at least $5).

You may want to check out too, if you haven't already. They offer a 100% deposit bonus up to $600, it's also easier to clear than Titan's, and I can give you a kickback there too.

I've been playing my cash games there exclusively recently.

I actually found the full tilt bonus about the same as Titan to clear. But that's at the limits MB and I play at. Although, FT pays out in $10 increments rather than the $4 that Titan does, so that is one plus. But either way, it takes a loooong time at the low limits even to get that first payout.

Oh and after I clear a couple bonus' at other sites, I'd be willing to take you up on that Pacific offer.
