Default How can you make this call and sleep at night?

Blinds 300/600 in a Freeroll on titan, i got 7.5k and im doing well, delt AK so i raise to 1500, and get one caller in middle position.

Flop A 4 9 I bet 900, he calls

Turn J, bet 1500, he calls

River 4, all in, he calls and turns over 43.

Thanks Jackass.

I think you answered your own question. Thats what happens in freerolls

Understanable, but still, you would think when you get deeper into freerolls they quality of play would start to improve, just goes to show you that you can try your hardest to give away your chips and still end up a winner

You bet 900 into a pot that had to have over 4000 chips in it on the flop? Why?

it was a slow table, not alot of big bets, and he only had a few more chips than me so i figured 900 is not to much, but enough to kick out some dumbasss with 43.

Seems like a pretty easy call to me, considering the sick odds you were giving him to draw. And the river was especially easy, since he had trips.

When you make baby bets, you're asking to get sucked out on. As long as you are aware of that and don't mind giving your opponents to draw, it's fine. But if you don't like bad beats (like me), or are going to complain when they happen (like you), then I think it's a good idea to make sure you are giving your opponent bad odds to draw, yes. Make him make a BIG mistake by chasing you, as opposed to a very small one.

so i shouldnt make bets relative to the size of their stack, but rather to the size of the pot?

Making bets in relation to the pot is key -- but YES stack size sometimes is taken into consideration when betting. And betting a smaller % of the pot which is a large % of the pot, can be a correct play. But.... he had more chips than you? How is 900 a threat to his stack (after calling 1500 preflop?)

You raise 2.5 BBs with AK (Id prefer 3 but I guess this is ok)

You bet the flop almost 50% less than what you raised preflop? This is never ok

there's over 5:1 on his call here, and he had stack odds... it's not as bad of a call as you think....more specifically its a bad bet by you

But regardless it's a freeroll

And what do you mean you were doing good with 7.5K and blinds 300/600, you only had a little over 10 BBs, while you arent technically 'short yet' I wouldn't imagine this is good(unless the avg stack was around this amount/lower and blinds moved quickly)

i was right around the avg stack at the time, and i meant that i had been playing well up to that point. I was refferring to the call he makes preflop, 1500 with 34? i mean come on i may have played horribly after the flop but how do you make this call preflop, he had around 600 more chips than me so it wasnt like he could afford to play every hand pf.

sure he made a bad call preflop, but you didn't make him pay for it and allowed him to suck out with poor post flop betting
