Stay away from ChecknRaise poker
I've never even heard of it, but check out this whack as shit they're pulling with some dudes over at 2+2:
This will be crossposted on the forums at other sites so sorry for any duplication. A while back, I, and a number of others were fortunate enough to win tickets to WSOP events through a series of promotions run by CheckNRaise poker, an ongame network (Poker Room) skin. I and a couple of regulars at BW even won ME tickets. The event that I won in particular was listed here, my alias on CnR, is pokerrobr. Well last night I get the following email: ------------------------- Hi Rob, We regret to inform you that CnR will be unable, at this time, to make a lump sum payment for the 10 WSOP seats that were won this year through the “CheckPoints to Millions” and “Freeway to Vegas” promotions on ChecknRaisePoker. However, we plan to make this up to you over the coming months. We will deposit into your player account 5% or more, as cash flow permits, of the value of your entry in monthly installments starting July 31st , 2006 until 110% of the cash equivalent is paid in full. Unfortunately our cash flow did not allow us to set aside sufficient funds from the time that you won your seat in March. If you plan to attend the WSOP in any event, we wish you the best of luck and we are sure you will have a great time. Please accept our sincere apologies for having to break this news to you just weeks prior to the event we promised you. Please do not hesitate to contact us by return email, if you have any questions or comments. If you would like to speak to us by phone, please suggest a convenient time and provide a phone number and we would be happy to call you and provide more details and answer any questions that you may have. Best Regards, Erez and the ChecknRaise Team

Sweet PR move by Poker.com
If they actually come through with it, this is a cool move. Costs them 150k or so, but builds a lot of good will/good press.
Warning: Following link then closing page may spawn obnoxious pop-ups.

Interesting move to say the least. I wonder how much they will actually have to pay out...
I think one of you should "come forward," and let us know how it works out. I hate to say it, but this could very well be nothing but a publicity stunt, if no one is able to prove that they were one of the affected players. |

One of the CNR winners has contacted poker.com but the "key" to the whole thing apparently is the phrase "if CNR management agrees". He's posted in the CNR thread at 2+2.

I wonder if..
poker.com takes them to the wsop if the shit hole will still pay them as they stated or if they just get bailed out and make off like a bunch of losers?

RobDoral, one of the 3 players that won a ME entry from CNR has stated on 2+2 that CNR has contacted him and committed to pay them anyway. So it appears as if they've stated they're going to pay, but whether they really do or not. They've made at least one of the committed payments now.
So this really is a win-win for the players involved. Poker.com steps in and gives these players the package that other poker.com players received (which was actually worth $1500 MORE than the CNR package. They also have to wear poker.com gear, like the other poker.com winners). CNR is, supposedly, going to pay them the $12K over the next 20 months or whatever. Even CNR, while this problem is completely their fault, doesn't come away from this looking TOO bad - assuming that they do pay. They agreed to allow poker.com to offer up the packages AND they're still going to pay the prizes out to the winners. Sure, it's still shitty that they even put the winners in this position in the first place, but they could have easily washed their hands of it after poker.com stepped up! |

Good for the players
But still the biggest lump of cow dung ive ever seen.If these playes are smart they will let there account sit until they recieve all their funds and then bail out and never give those losers one rake more. i have a funny feeling that after a few months or so the payments will slowly fade away!!!!God that pisses me off!!
