Default reasonable goals

The key to be successful for me is to maintain reasonable expectations. In the past I have had unreasonable goals, which I try to meet by playing a lot. Although I earn more 4-tabling than 2-tabling, I don't earn twices as much. Increasing the hours I play also actually decreases my effectiveness at the tables, and it takes away from time I usually spend doing other things. So in terms of percentage of bankroll, what do you all think are reasonable monthly goals for playing 50hrs a month of NL? (assume 2 tabling max buyin with 20 buyins total bankroll-ie 2 tabling $25NL with $500 bankroll or 2 tabling $50NL with $1000 bankroll-but it shouldn't matter if the goal is expressed in terms of percentage of bankroll).

well 50 hours per month 2-tabling you will probably play 120 hands/hr so thats about 6k hands per month. I think you can make 5-7BB/100 hands, so around 300-400 BB a month. Hmm maybe 100-150$ a month, so 20-30% of your bankroll. That only works out to about 2-3$ per hour tho.

This is an individual thing.... I wouldn't even know what to suggest for a goal, and I don't know that it matters anyway. If you reach your goal, are you going to stop playing for the month? If you fall short and are about to run out of time, are you going to start pushing? I think both are bad ideas...

Thanks JP, but TP, aka The Wet Blanket, effectively shut down this thread

Yeah, but it is so much easier if someone just tells me my goals.

Of course the goal should be to make informed quality decisions at all times and play good poker without being results orientated. You are starting to sound like me with the predictable "do the right thing" relationship advice
