Default 5/10 IS hard!

Man is 5/10 weird. One night I am dropping 60BB, the next I am making 40BB back. Crazy! It is very hard to deal with the swings sometime. It seems like there are many more swings at this level than the lower levels. I am grinding away. Probably have made 40BB in the past two weeks. Really sucks. Huge swings. I guess we will see if I get the hang of this level or not! Anyone else find 5/10 on Empire/Party hard? Do you know why? It does not seem like the people playing are all that good.. I mean I had AA,KK,AK,AQ, and a few other hands all in an hour last night and everyone lost to things like 94o! Jesus! I mean why do I even bother to raise pre-flop sometimes!

The swings are the hardest to deal with, imo, and that's why people need an "insane" amount of money (ie: 300xbb or whatever) to feel comfortable playing a certain limit.

The key is not changing the way you play just because the idiots are sucking out on you. DEFINITELY change if the table situation presents itself, but then again, I don't have to preach to the choir. From what you've posted since joining, it seems like you know what you're doing, and it's working. Keep at it.

G'luck.

Default I don't know if it's the level.....

Was on party yesterday and decided to peak in at a random 15/30 game. SAME IDIOT STYLE OF PLAY THAT I SEE ON THE 2/4 ONLY WORSE!

Two guys were having a pissing contest, raising and reraising every hand. Both calling each other to the river and the winner showing ACe high, shit like that.

So, give yourself some time and see if you're game is solid enough to keep playing at that level. It's probably just a bad run of cards/players.

I think some of it may be that you somehow managed to avoid the variance you're seeing now at the lower limits. Limit players that have followed along with you through your blog were probably wondering when you'd see it. You really did manage to work your way through the lower levels relatively quickly.

Perhaps it's just now that you're seeing what a lot of others (including myself) have seen.

Just an opinion. It could also be that the game is different enough at those levels such that the skills you've used to kill those levels don't apply as much to 5/10.
