not quite, i figured if it was easy for me to triple $200 at the 3/6 in 2 hours, how much harder could the 5/10 be?

hit the nail on the head there party boy.

Stay within limits, no busting bankroll stories anymore on here.

I could add links to a number of threads, mainly involving brian, but i wont.

if u can triple $200 at 3/6, then do it over and over again. Why bother moving up? there only a certain level you can hit online, and the fish stop playing somewhere.

Stick to 3/6 man. Trust me, ive done it once, went up from 1/2 to 5/10. I got lucky on my all in ($455) with AK vs AA to win alot ($1k), but i was out of my league when i played there. I could probably do it now, but 3/6 is where my armchair is, and i like the ass print ive made.

This all sounds good except that there's no way he's bankrolled for 3/6. If he was, there's no way he'd be talking about "tripling $200." So stick to .50/1 or .25/.50 or whatever.

Ive been playin 3/6 for about a week now and have had almost all my sessions there profitable. What would be a good starting stack? I thought 150-200 was good. Should I play with more when most my oppenents sit with 50-100? If a guy cashes in for 50, and I cash in for 150, and then he takes that 150 from me, I probably shouldnt have been playin with him anyways. But why is $200 a bad starting stack? Thats not my entire roll. I do have around $800 now (mostly from the 3/6). The minimum buy in for the 3/6 is only $30, I figured If I more than quadrupled that then I was safe. But what do you fellas suggest?

It's not about starting stack in limit. I'm talking about your bankroll here. What I meant was that it seemed pretty clear that you were "running up" a couple hundred bucks from a small roll. This hasn't been discussed lately, but there are some pretty commonly accepted bankroll requirements for limit poker. Most people say that you need 300 BBs (that's big bets) to play a limit. So to play 3/6, you would need a bankroll of 1800. With 800, you're banked to play 1/2. If you go above that the swings will be too big to handle.

P.S. I'm not trying to be an ass, but it's VERY likely that the run you had was due largely to a lucky run of cards. That's not a bad thing, everybody has good and bad streaks. But don't ever let yourself think that you've suddenly become unbeatable because you run hot for a few hundred hands. That's very tempting, but try not to let it happen.

-Edited for spelling.
