Default How to beat passive tables?

I have started to play 6-max NL. After 1500 hands or so, it seems like the general MO at the low levels is people play really passive (I know that this is not a large sample, but it is what I got). Usually I see only small preflop raises with monsters, and then they try to trap postflop. Also, if I raise 4-6Xbb preflop, everyone will call. Never see a reraise (for instance, I had JJ on button, everyone called to me, I made it 8X bb and everyone called-rags flop, I played aggressive and AA from CO nailed me-after 100 hands, his pfr was 0).

I don’t want to fall into the trap of winning small pots (everyone will fold to CB usually) and lose big pots. From a theoretical poker viewpoint, the strategy I am seeing seems very beatable. What do you all think about how to beat tables like this?

If everyone is calling nearly 6x BB raises, then quit your job, and settle down for 48 hours straight of cash games, ten table them! If you keep winning, dont go up limits, you should be winning enough at whatever limit your at.

That strategy is very beatable, post and fold till the bigger hand, and outplay them on the flop or get it all in.

Good luck.

yeah, it is pretty juicy. I sometimes get in trouble when I don't let go of a hand because my AQ (or whatever) should be good on a rag flop, but other than that it is really amazing. These are the $25 NL 6-max tables at pokerroom. Pretty much 50% of table will pay up to $2 preflop with rags to see the flop.

You can make a table of any size at that site. Lots of 5-max tables, if I get bored I might try those out. But for now I'm going to concentrate on the 6-max tables. If not for the job, the family, the damn dog that always wants to go out, I'd play all the time....
