Default you know this guy?

I was playing my $2 tourney yesturday and busted out just before final table and logged back on later to see the guy that took my chips was 1st with like 6 people left.

well his name was Lawson and guess who popped in to wish him luck Money800, ok no big deal. Next oth world champs were saying how good Lawson was, next guy to pop in was Joe Hashem wtf who is this Lawson guy and last but not least Tom the card room manager guy came to say gl and he was gonna win.

I looked him up on the poker db and nothing special about him, about 25 final tables mostly in very low limit things. So who the hell is this guy that he has such powerful friends?

Perhaps it's 'Ted Lawson'. Won close to $45k in 2005 WSOP by finishing in 6th place. He also won $500k in Omaha.

Hope you wished him gl aswell.

6th place in the 2005 WSOP paid well over $1 million. And I don't remember that name from the tv coverage. You must mean one of the smaller events = not the main event anyway.

Edit: Ted Lawson is a former gold bracelet winner though - 2004. So that's a reasonable guess.

if that is him then why does he play nothing higher then $5 tournies on stars?

according to poker db he has made about a couple thousand on stars, seems to me that if that is him why not play a little higher limits.

Maybe he is practicing against random crazy internet beginners so they don't freak him out when the WSOP comes around?

hehe

If it is Ted Lawson, then he's probably just screwing around. I mean, he wouldn't need to play them for the money.

Yes it was a smaller event, but still an honor none the less.

Could be a number of reasons. Maybe he only plays online for fun. Maybe he spent his entire roll elsewhere. Maybe he keeps his online and live rolls separate. Maybe while he's made a "couple thousand" on Stars, he's also lost "a few thousand" on Stars - the pokerdb doesn't show that. Maybe he was just screwing around, like when I play the $.10/$.20 limit with you guys. This is all speculation - you'd have to ask him to get the real answer.

I'm just saying I think his $500,000 bracelet win was a little more noteworthy and probably got him a little more recognition.

Same thing happened at one of my tournies $11 rebuy tournies a few months ago...
Raymer, Money800, even LeeJones all came to wish some random dude GL.?

I was like why are they all on at once - all wishing the same sucky guy GL?

Then ppl at the table realized there was a few spaces before the name
It was
: money800, instead of
:money800.

So it was none of the real ppl and I bet thats the case with u too.
It became pretty obvious at my table when the fake Money800 and Fossilman started cussing one another out lol - and challeng each other to a $50,000 HU match.

Poker db is messed up somewhat. Doesn't give you all the stats. As for why, I don't know why one does what they do, I'm not clairvoyant.

Maybe he's bored and needs to entertain himself by playing with the fish and donks of Stars.

edit: I was typing this before anyone else posted, didn't see the other posts. Guess TalkingPoker and I think the same way.

So if he played a $500 tournament on Stars and lost it wouldn't show on the db board right?

Case and point.

I saw a (space)fossilman the other day. Same deal. Good theory. Just kids messing around. I can't believe Stars would let people have those usernames.

I've seen a fake moeny800 before, poped up in one of my tournies. I think he was trying to make his friend look like a pro so everyone else would be scared of him. Thats what it seemed like anyway. I've gotta agree with TalkingPoker when he says "I can't believe Stars would let people have those usernames."
