zeejustion and playing 6handed limit
zeejustin** shut up I know I can't type.
I was reading ZeeJustin's site after watching that video of him winning the 500k tourney. And I came across this in his about me section... I don't quite understand this so I was hoping someone could explain it to me. Is he saying that you should always play like you are in late position in a regular game, even if you are UTG or in early position in the 6 max game? I am sure that there is something in this simple advice that could help my limit ring game skills not suck so much dick, but I don't want to go re-read Hold'em for Advanced Players until I am sure about what I am looking for.

What he's saying is in a full ring game, you have 10 players at the table, so when you are UTG, you have 9 players left to act behind you (including the blinds). In a 6 max game, when you are UTG, you only have 5 players left to act behind you (including the blinds). So he's saying, to compare apples to apples, just assume that you are playing in a full ring game, but the first 4 players insta-fold every hand.
Make sense? |

I think this is what is confusing me, is he saying that your hand selection should be the same UTG in 6 max as it is in mid-position in a full ring game?

Yep. An easier way to explain this would be that 4th to act in 6 max, you ON THE BUTTON and not in MP. Rather than coming up with entirley new hand requirements for EP, MP, LP, why not just used the full ring game ones and assume the first 4 players fold every hand? That's all he's saying.
I don't really play like this (I kinda figured it all out on my own), but I see no problem with it. It's essentially correct. |
