Do some pros "over do it" just because they are on tv?
Lets take for example, Phil Hellmuth and Phil Laak.....
They're crazy antics and outrageous childish behaviours make for some great television..... but what do you think is their reasoning behind this behaviour? Is it just to give a table image of "this guy is nuts"...... or do you think they are just playing to the cameras to make good tv? Or is it something else? |

Sadly, I don't think Hellmuth plays it up much for the cameras. Laak does though (although not as much as you might think - it comes naturally for him).
Why do people do this? Simple. Increased recognition = Increased Marketability = Increased $$$. |

also they get more people gunning for them which can be a good or bad thing.
Like I hear alot of people say, 'I would love to beat Phil Hellmuth because he cries all the time'. So he gets more people playing pots with him which can be a good thing for him because he is one of the best and will get his money in with the best hand 99% of the time. |

I agree with oma on this one, seems like it is true that they have wild and crazy anticts if none other than to draw the attention to them, *that is one guy I want to put out* mentallity and maybe some one will play a hand against them more because of whom they are playing the hand against than really having a hand they should be playing.

Probably not gonna happen. It's not natural for me, so I'd have to force it, which would be a distraction from my game.
