Default Bizarre Home Game

PLayed on Saturday night. 6 players came out and it was a good night.

Something eerie occured though. We played maybe 100-150 hands, and twice quad Qs natural came up. I was lucky enough to have 1 of them in straight 7 and got a pretty big pot since 3 were buried , the other guy was unlucky since we were playing follow the queen and 3 of his queens were up, putting him on 5 aces. Anyway, my pot paid off pretty good.

i always see a lot of screwy stuff like that in home games. the quads in stud must have been a monster, especially because it was hidden, and i have definitely seen hands like that in chase the queen/follow the bitch type games.

my favorite for huge hands is anaconda. essentially you need a good full house to win that game, otherwise it doesnt even make sense to stay in at all.

Well, unfortunately it was a family game, so it wasn't as big as it would have been against my "friends" .

It was a fairly large pot though. My uncle was betting in front of me and he kept raising and raising and raising, even though I had trips after 4 cards. Picked up my last hole card and nearly fell out of my chair when I saw the 4th queen.

The follow the queen game, he actually got dealt all 4 queens, so it wasn't a hand filled with wilds or anything like that.

I say I won the 2 biggest pots of the night, probably both in excess of $20, but I was too drunk to really notice how much exactly.

Anaconda:

Anaconda is a seven card stud poker game. It is played with the same rules except for a few exceptions.

1. Seven cards are dealt to each player face down. Then a betting round commences.

2. After the round, the players each pass three face down cards to the player on his or her left. This is followed by another betting round.

3. Next, two face down cards are passed to the player on the left, and another betting round ensues.

4. After this round, each player passes one more face down card to the left, followed by another betting round.

5. After the betting, each player chooses his five best cards and puts them, face down, in a pack before him on the table.

6. When the dealer says so, the players roll the top card. Once everyone’s top card is exposed, they have another betting round starting with the player with the highest card. Each card is exposed in this fashion until all cards are exposed. This game can be played for high or low.

I was actually drinking the Appleton's rhum that night. Nothing like a few rum and pepsis to get the mojo flowing. And calling Canada the Tennessee of the north? Huh, I think it sounds as though Tennessee is the Canada of the south. Us Canadians will drink anyone under the table, just ask the moderator .
