Default Big Bet's

I have been reading around some poker forums and I always hear references to BB's or "Big Bets", like "I try to win 3 big bets an hour" and since I am a total donkey, I don't know what they are talking about.

I have tried googling the term but just get links back to some online poker site or references to any article that has the word "bet" in it.

Could someone please explain this to me?

Thanks,

1-2 game on stars, the small blind(sb) is .50, the big blind(bb) is $1, and a big bet(BB) would be $2.

The general consensus for "Limit Players" is that 2BB/100 hands is the benchmark for a winning player. In general, I don't think you can complain if you are taking 1BB off the table every 100 hands.

I don't believe the term is as useful in the NL game, but I may be wrong.

For limit players, it's strictly a measurement of longterm winrate.

I mostly play NL and usually have 3-4 tables going at a time. I try to win 1 buy-in at a sitting when I play. This might be small for some but its what I shoot for. by sitting I also mean all my tables together not just one of them so .50/1.00 NL try to take away $100 that day.

This is the answer he's looking for.

As another example, in a $5/$10 limit game, the BB (big bet) is $10. This is not to be confused with the BB (big blind) which is $5.

Stupid same abbreviation meaning two different things!
