I just wanted to know whats ur guys opinoion on music while playing poker and if you ever listen to music while u play.

I think this is a perfectly reasonable topic to talk about.... not sure whay you think it isn't. At least this is about poker, and not Girlfriend 2.0 or whatever that was.

I like music while I play too, but more often than not, I don't listen to it. Go figure.

I've actually heard that music stimulates the mind and can actually help you perform better in certain situations, poker being one of them. Of course I think the type of music you are listening to is a big factor...

In educational settings, they recommend purely instrumental music to improve concentration.

I have music on half the time. I enjoy it.

personally, i dont listen to or watch anything while i play. i just like to concentrate on the game...

ive found that, at least poker-wise, i can do my 'best' only when i fully focus on one thing at a time only without any side/back 'distractions'...

im sure ill do exactly the same when i play in a live event one day as well.

As I've said many times before, I have trouble playing JUST one poker game at a time. I'm usually multi-tabling, plus reading the forum, plus surfing the web, plus email, plus playing a movie, etc.

Tonight was a perfect example.... I was half-paying attention to my tourney, but I didn't give it my full attention until after the second break. I even mentioned to the guys railing that I was about to focus. I turned on some music (XM Radio through my PC), finished up a few emails, and then started paying 100% attention to the game.

And I can tell you for a fact, I do indeed play better (mostly related to remembering how my opponents play) when I'm focusing than when I'm not. I need to try to remember that more in the future and cut back o nthe multi-tasking.

Now I read this topic and smiled to myself, I always l listen to music wether playing poker or not. The reason mostly being that I am a Dj.

My music selection is important to me and I find I often have 200 or 300 mp3 tracks pre selected and have them playing constant on my pc.

Now being a poker player and a Dj and reading this thread gave me an idea. I have a item for sale on e-bay that may intrest some of you, So i will place a link here if its ok with TP and if by chance any sales may arise I will offer TP $2 for every sale gained to put towards any of his Pokerstars tournys.

The item costs £13 in sterling (english money that is) or $20 (american) and includes free package and posting which is sent once cheque has cleared or pay by transfer to my account on PS.

If by chance you are intrested e-mail me at

to check out the item.click the link below.
