06 WSOP schedule announced
In addition to the events, the trade show will be 7/27th - 30th. I'm definite for 7/28 - 7/30, possibly longer. |

I'm thinking of playing WSOP Event #2 (1500 NLHE), Event #6 (2000 NLHE) and Event #8 (2000 Omaha HL 8/OB). If I happen to WIN an event I may stay an extra bit longer and probably fly back for the MAIN EVENT.
WOW 44 WSOP Event. Seems like their is a lot of $1000, 1500 and 2000 events. My plan is to pay into the 1500 NLHE using W$ on PS if they allow it. And then buy into the other events the same way if they permit, or just pay for it myself. I had some decent cashes this year, and since I have no immediate expenses it will be a great bday since I will be 21 for my first WSOP.

Sounds like you've had a good year. Congrats...
Next year's schedule looks VERY similar to this year's. I don't have them side by side, but I can't help but wonder if it's exactly the same, in fact. I'm not sure what preliminary events I'll play in, but I'd love to get in that 6 handed one. I'll probably end up going out for the Main Event again this year, and play in the smaller events they have running that week. That worked out pretty well for me in 2005. |

HHhhmmmmm...If I somehow qualify for Main Event, I think I would scratch all my earlier plans and go for Main Event week.
Else, It would be a toss up between June 26th-Aug 4th ish Or Aug 2nd - Aug 10th. Decisions Decisions...

all the holdem events are pathetic IMO... so tired of this holdem phase the WSOP is going through.
I would like to see more PLO events myself. I rather watch a FT of Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth, Robert Williamson, Allen Cunningham and several other bracelet winners than a FT with Matusow and a bunch of nobodies. |

So would I... but as a player, Hold Em is my best game, so I can't complain too much yet.
I didn't see a HORSE event. I think they pulled that one this year too. That's one I'd love to watch on tv... |

yeah almost everyone's best game is holdem just because its the easiest and is simple to play.
Nothing to take away from HE players (just about everyone on the forum play some form of holdem almost exclusively). Its just my for my own viewing purposes really but as a player I see where your coming from. |

Negreanu's sentiments:
After the complaints the floor people received this year, I was all but certain the World Series of Poker would bring back the mixed game event and make sure to protect the integrity of the event by maintaining a wide variety of games.
Screwed! That's how I felt when I saw the schedule. The World Series of Poker is an inappropriate title for this mockery. The World Series of Hold'em, sure, but how dare they call this the World Series of Poker when they've eliminated most of the other tournaments in favor of even more hold'em events. It's not about the poker anymore, it's all about the bottom line apparently. Not only was there no mixed game event,, but get this, there is precisely ONE stud hi-lo event with a... I can't take it... with a.... with a.... $1000 buy in! My goodness, how shameful! Not to mention the fact that if you want to play in the $3000 Omaha H/L event, it happens to run two hours after the $3000 limit hold'em event. The tournaments that used to get their own day, multiple days in fact, are reduced to being "after thoughts." I can't tell you how upset I am with the mockery that has become of the schedule. No longer is the WSOP about the poker, about protecting the integrity of the game, or about giving the players what they want. Nope, it's all about the bottom line. *Sigh* It just infuriates me and I know I'm not alone. The best players in the world play in the biggest mixed games in the world: Hold'em Stud Omaha H/L Stud H/L Razz 2-7 Triple Draw Limit Omaha Pot Limit Omaha No Limit Hold'em 2-7 NL Single Draw These are the games that the world's best enjoy playing, but the WSOP has decided that these players know nothing about what poker is all about. Poker is Hold'em to them, and nothing more. Poker is dying. Not hold'em of course, but poker as we once knew it is becoming extinct because the people in control aren't interested in helping poker flourish, they have a bottom line to think about that takes precedence over all else. I have no idea who is at fault so I won’t place blame. I’d sure like to know, though, who- who exactly is making these decisions? I don't even know what else to say. I am so disappointed and I don't know what else to do other then to vent my frustrations. I love poker, and "non-poker playing" suits are killing the game I love. |
