"Big stakes" play money tables. No need to grind for months to get to a million chips. I would never do it, but I do see the logic.
Hell it's how I got my start, spent 2 nights building up to a million on the crazy ass O8 tables and sold it for the going price back then, $15. +5k and a video ipod later, and I'm happier than a pig in shit.

hmm ...i don't ever buy play chips to use for myself .... i find that totally absurd; wouldn't waste my real money in that way....
i buy low and sell high...hence the profit making so therefore it's a pretty good business... i didn't put one cent of my own money in my PS account...i only have that money through making millions of play chips and selling them .... on the way you find ppl that don't have the clientele to sell to... but yet want to either get into the business or wanting to play the real money tables and are willing to sell for a few dollars a mill....so yeah i'll buy from them...if i don't ....someone else will and they'll make the profit instead of me... Hope this helps you better understand why ppl, like myself, buy....

K we said it like a thousand times Zybomb that they are loeaded and a dollar or two does not really matter to them really much. when they wanna play just for fun and not serious they ask someone to sell them play chips, i dont know y they just dont go to the .01/.02 table, but they just dont. they go and play the 40K or fold tables. you probably heard of it.
i would never do such a thing, because i rather lose my dollar on a real game than on some chips. hope i kind of explained it to you. this is all i can come up with, because i am not really sure on the real reason either. but the people that buy chips, this is what they usually do with it. |

Would you believe the most amusing thing I found in this thread has absolutely NOTHING to do with buying or selling play chips?
The funniest thing I found is how many people are stating that they have "NEVER" put their own money into online poker... Someone sold playmoney chips, someone else got a free bankroll somewhere, etc etc etc.... I am proud to say I deposited and lost, deposited and lost, deposited and lost... When I got tired of losing, I studied the game, Then I studied some more, and I APPLIED the knowledge. The rest speaks for itself.

well the thing is that the first guy wanted to know if we knew anyone that would be interested in chips. most of us said thats a bad idea because its illegal, and the rest it just lead to this. as you can see one of the guys on this thread actually got busted for it. so we had nothing more to say.

....do you think that makes you better than the rest of us just because you are loaded enough to "deposit".... instead of wise enough to turn those play chips into real money and "deposit" that instead ... ummm let's see what Donald Trump would say to that....LOL

At first, I could not believe it either. But there it is:
Then I thought about it some more, and liken it to the example of people buying/selling "scarce" items in some online role-playing games. There does exist a demand for the accumulation of virtual items, be it play money chips or Everquest gold. What people are REALLY paying for is time. Rather than spend time accumulating, it may be far easier and dare I say it, more economical for them to simply purchase the end result from someone who has more time on their hands. Certainly, it's odd, but it's not that unrealistic for these virtual marketplaces to crop up. With the millions of online players, the demand for something seemingly without value exists on the fringe. Granted, most of us who are playing for real money don't feel the need to participate in that market, but by all means, don't be so surprised by it. |

You can't sell play money chips on ebay anymore. It has something to do with a rule about gambling or what not. I think it was about a year ago that they started to enforce this rule cause people had been selling chips on there for a while.
I haven't ever bought any play money chips but have sold a few million. I can understand why someone would buy em too. If you are making lots of money what is 10 dollars for a million or so play chips that you can donk off in any way that you choose. It better to loose those while drunk than a couple hundred in a real game. |

No... doesn't make me better. [Although I'd be happy to play you ]
Yes... Trump would like it. Better ROI after taking the Time value of money into account. TIME = Money "You're Fired!"
