Announcing winner of the ME on ESPN stupid?
honestly i didnt wanna know and i thought id be safe in thinking ESPN would not tell viewers on sportcenter who won since espn airs the wsop 05 and i thought they would want to make every1 wait and watch the show so it would get good reviews, but they announced it on sportscenter, does anyone but me think this is stupid? i think less people will watch now (i know alot of people still will) but i dont know, alot of people that i know didnt want to know and wanted to watch it for themselves (these people dont play online poker and wouldnt just stroll across a post that has who won in it)

They show these episodes AT LEAST weekly for an entire year and you think people aren't going to tune in to the premiere of these episodes.
1) Most of the people who know who won know because they want to and don't care. 2) The others are oblivious to who won. But, people will still watch and I'll still never buy baseball cards from you.

He's in the public domain
For anyone even remotely connected to the poker world, it would be difficult to avoid hearing the winner’s name – his picture was all over mainstream media, and he’ll be written up in the next/current issue of every poker publication in existence, not to mention blogs, forums, etc. I think you have to watch for HOW, not WHO.

i guess this is true, but however not every1 is connected to poker magazines, and internet poker and sites like this and others so alot of people ARE still wondering who wins and i think thats a big reason they watch, to see if it was some1 they know like a big pro or another random person.

I disagree.
When you are watching any poker show and there is about 1 minute left in the program and the guys get all in preflop and there is all that fake drama (from the announcers) of wondering who's going to win when the cards get turned up, do you roll your eyes and change the channel, or do you still watch the cards hit the board? |

obviously i still watch, im saying i will end up watching it im just saying im sure some people (like me) werent happy with espn of all the networks announcing who won because they do host the show.
also at the beggining of an event youve never seen or heard about you dont know who wins so theres a reason for you to sit through the entire show and after watching for an hour why change on the last hand. |

If you want to live a sheltered life and pretend the 4 month old WSOP is happening live when you watch it on tv, so be it. Many other people want to live in the present. ESPN is a sports network that reports current sports news. It's their job.
