Let me be the first to spoil:

Joe Hachem with a modest holding of 73 is what I just read.

Matusow busted out 9th after only a few hands. He started 4th in chips, but his KK ran into AA in the 2nd hand. Of course they got all the chips in preflop (he had the other guy covered). Mike hit his set of Kings on the flop but the other guy hit runner runner hearts for a flush. A few hands later, Mike made a good read on a guy with TT and a flop of unders, but the other guy hit a straight on the turn to eliminate Matusow. After that, the 8 remaining were amateurs. From reading the Cardplayer log, it looks like it was super-aggressive, with a lot of pretty questionable plays with weak holdings, but I guess it's hard to tell.

The main event should make for good tv but it's a shame Matusow busted when he did. I'm sure ESPN wasn't too happy about that.

EDIT: I didn't see that this had already been talked about, sorry.

Joe did win the WSOP with a 7c 3s. His opponent was Steve Dannenmann who was holding Ad 3c. Flop was 4d-5d-6h. Turn was As. They were all in at this point. River was 4c.

This Joe is apparently a professional poker player for 10 years from Australia. But I've never heard of him before today. Congrats to him.

I'm sure it will still make for good tv, but I'm kinda bummed how things worked out. With 27 players left, we still had Raymer, Ivey, Tim Phan, Matusow.... I was hoping at least two of them would make the final table and one would get to heads up.

It sounds like Ivey got un over. Eventually, he got all his money in with JJ against KK. I'll be interested to see how that happened.

The coverage for the earlier events starts soon. First up should be Cunningham vs. Fischman. That should be some good tv.

It looks like ESPN is milking this poker craze as they made this season incredibly long. We will have to wait a LONG time for the final event, and what would one more episode be with event #44! THat seriously sucks.

ANyhoo, take a look

I am disappointed about multiple pros not making it to the final table. However, how probable is it for a poor, mediocre, or even a good player to make it past like 6000 people. In my opinion, someone got either IMPOSSIBLY lucky or we have to give these guys our respect. IMO, these guys played some quality poker for a long time.

I'm looking forward for Tuesday. I will be off Tuesday so I will be watching the first broadcast for sure. Sucks we have to wait like 4 months to see the main event though. Also really sucks they did not televise TP event.

I personally dont think ESPN is milking the poker craze, they are showing 2 WSOP events a week up to the main event.

Its just that they show all the main event action and this years is so big that its going to take forever.
