depends on how you approach the game... you have to choose a style based on how you feel most comfortable. it's tough to pick one of the top pro's style over anothers... i mean how do you really make that distinction? of course the key to hold 'em is aggression... but i think thats something that every top pro has built into his game, even the total rocks. the difference i see in most of them is how they approach the mental side of the game... and how loose/tight they are. i mean you could say gus hansen is the best because he's so unpredictable... but then again he's obviously a "gambler" type player who feels comfortable getting in there with marginal starting hands to win big pots. a player like sklansky wouldnt be able to play that way, because he's a more analytical type player, very tight, and stays away from marginal situations.

I love Phil Ivey's game. Whenever in a tough decision, he almost always makes the right decision. He knows when to put the pressure on and when to stop. Also is good at using his table image to his advantage.

yep
well there are a couple distinct players that seem to play crazy but actully know exactly what they are doing.
daniel and gus are prime examples of this they run what most would be concidered marginal hands but they also know that they have the chips to spend to run those hands. If they where below average chips stack they wouldnt run these same hands. Daniel says that he runs hands like 6s8s but he usually run them from MP and raise with them and then if he dosent hit he will try to outplay his opponent after the flop or if he hits he will trap them. Then there are players like Howard and Phil gordon that are total rocks and usually just play the hands that most would be concidered good hands unless they are trying to mix it up with their rock table image. I like to play like Daniel and Gus personally If I know I have a giant chip advantage I like to play more hands and see what happens, now im not saying call 1/4 of your stack with 6s8s but I will come in with a raise with it if im one of the chip leaders. |

Daniel Negreanu (sp) imo is incredible. He has an aggressive style without being insane (Esfandiari, Hanson etc) and what makes him good is he makes extremely good reads (probably better than anyone in the game right now), and makes the proper decision very very often. He also mixes up play very well.
