MTT fee in Casinos??

So, for online tourneys 10% is a "good" fee, right?

What about casinos? I was looking at a casino near my parents house that had a $70 + $15 (25%). I also looked at foxwoods and they had some that were $45 +$15 (33%).

Is this typical? I realize you are paying a REAL dealer and staff but.....??

Playing live, looked to get raped on the vig. Actually the feeling of getting raped only came about because of the insurgence of online poker - which brought w/ it cheaper vigs.

Either way, it's not such a bad thing. In my experience, the average casino tournament is much easier to crack compared to its counterpart.

I think you might be looking at rebuy tourney's. If you take the usual one rebuy and maybe an add on(which 90% of the field usually does), it brings the percentage down. Or you're in an area where there is little competition, and they can afford to fleece people now because so many people want to play tournaments. L.A.'s and I think most of vegas tourneys hover somewhere around 10-15 if i remember correctly.

Yeah, the local poker room I've played at is $45 entry with $13 going to the house.

That's what it is here too. I found this so absurd ($32+13) that I have yet to play there. I will one of these days though... I'm curious to see what the play is like.

I've played in 3 SnGs there and should have been in the money each time... money goes to 1st and 2nd and I have a 2nd, 3rd and 4th. The competition was pretty poor. In the next week or so I might go down for their 100 player tourney. Even though the house fee is ridiculous compared to on-line fees, it's hard to beat the feel of playing "live" poker.
