Anyone making money out of freerolls?
I have tried about 10 freerolls and I can't seem to get to the final table. Anyone making money on these things?

I am past that point.... however for all you newbies out there...
I think a very valuable site for me, was jetsetpoker.com They have a freeroll every half an hour or so. You don't win money, but you can win "gopoints" or something like that. It was valuable to me, simply for the fact that if I busted out, I didn't have to wait long to start a new one.... They also have freerolls for all the games.... Stud H/L and regular stud, Omaha H/L and regular Omaha and Holdem.... They also mix up all of there games using limit, no-limit and pot-limit. Honestly, After the 2-4 hours you spent on a freeroll, is that $2.18 really a just reward? The one that makes me laugh is pokerstars.... I think they get like 8000 people in their free-rolls and the top 9 don't win anything but entry into another free-roll for the "chance to win something.... Top prize of which I would assume is $100 or so. You're talking 10-15 hours for $100, and that's IF YOU WIN.... Could you imagine doing all that for the $10 prize (or less??????)??????? |

Where's the best place for freerolls? I've only really used Pacific. They have daily free rolls with prize pools of $100 and $500. They usually start out with 1,000 so you have to play ultra aggressive at the start to have a chance of making money. A lot of the players in the free rolls are ultra weak and will only make modest bets with very good hands. So for the first 30 minutes you have to play the thief. There will be under 100 players left within 2 hours, and from there it's a grind. If you have another account, register it as well. That way you can go all-in on the first good hand you have, and either double-up or log on as your backup account with a chip count that is still very high. |

Good to see the new players are willing to learn.

LMAO, I only play freerolls when I'm really bored, since I would hate to play for real money when I'm bored. The TEC chip freerolls on UB seem decent, but still not enough to make me a regular.

I just place on the Absolute Poker APChallenge Satellite
This is my first Final Table on a freeroll. Now I will be in Sunday's $1000 AP Challage main event. There were 620 entrants and 15 get a seat on Sunday's main event; lot better than Poker Stars.

I took third in a freeroll on Prima before, it was good for $100. Of course you had to have played 50 raked hands just to enter so it wasn't really free.

I play them any chance I get. It is good practice for real tourney play. I like to move a lot of chips around in any tourney I play in, and this gives me a cheap way to do that and work on different things in my game. I have one I play in a couple times a week that gets less than 300 players which I like because I play mainly live events with less than 300 players.

I typically don't waste my time on them (I can make a lot more lpaying for realy money, even though there is risk associated with doing so), but I think they are great for new players or players trying to build their bankrolls.
Check the Sticky post in the SPAM section for a $5000 freeroll going on Friday night. |

i focused pretty hard on the prima freerolls for a while, and i had pretty good results. back when they capped the number of entrants at 500, I won a $500 freeroll (good for $125), and then I made a couple more final tables, good for another $100 or so. I also made the final table of a fulltilt beta point freeroll, which was good for about 30 bucks.
i found that this was a very good way to learn how to play the game in a muchless risk averse setting, but after a while it just became too much of a drain. it didnt make sense to play for 4 hours and end up winning five bucks, or missing the money entirely. as for strategy, i always played very tight for the beginning rounds, because people were pushing it in like crazy. if you only play premium hands and dont worry about stealing pots until after the first break, you can be in very good shape. |

Won a $10 freeroll on Pokerchamps when it was Beta testing. I think there was about 250 people participating.

I agree - I got a First and a Third - Total of $7. It looks like the site may be up and running with real money so who knows, maybe I can double it and get up to $14 LOL.

I would love to see the win rate per hour of anyone making money at freerolls. Man I have looked at the lobby board at Stars and see some of them way over 6 hours, all to get a seat in another freeroll for a shot at 100 bucks if you win the thing.

I probably made over $300-400 on freerolls. The prima ones (for the 50 raked hands are pretty sweet)

the prima ones are probably the best around. there is actually some good money in the 50 raked hands ones, and the entrant pool isnt ridiculously big. their regular freerolls are just way too big now though, with 3k entrants.

Also, their Bet365 freerolls are decent. $5000 for 1700, just like getting a free $3 buyin.

Yeah, and for some reason the $1000 rebuy freeroll is packed, yet $5000 freezeout only has 1500-1700 in it??? go figure. SHHHHHH!

Well, seeing how most freerolls are a crapshoot for around 50$, it really isnt your best hourly win rate

i think that chip fish was suggesting that online poker as a whole may not be on the up and up. registering multiple accounts to multiple email adresses is a simple way to get a leg up on the game. its easy enough to have a couple of different entries in a freeroll especially.
