Michael Imperioli... and it premiered on January 30th.
I liked it. Thought he looked NOTHING like Ungar, but the story was good and I liked the way they told the story. As a fledgling player, it's good to learn more of the history. Rich |

Thought it was pretty good also. I actually liked the stuff from when he was a kid the best.

I just watched it, it was below my expectations. I anticipated that it would be mainly focused on poker. I was disappointed to find that much of the movie had nothing to do with poker and was all about how fucked up this guy's life was. A decent story i guess, just not what I was expecting.

Out on DVD
High Roller was available at my local Hollywood Video used for $12.
I'm a huge Sopranos fan, so I was expecting to love it. Instead, it came across to me as a poor man's Leaving Las Vegas. Imperioli did a decent job overall, but it just wasn't that compelling. And as usual, the poker shown was both too brief and unrealistic. Thumbs down. |
