Default Ever had a run like this?

In the last 4 hours of poker, 3.5 hours at a b&M and now a half hour online, here's my luck.

8 pocket pairs - out of the 8, 7 flopped (yes, flopped) trips! Out of the 7, I filled up 3 times. Did lose 1 of those times when someone drew to an inside straight.

Been playing the pairs hard to (raise, reraise with any pair) and have been winning big. Up 100 big bets as of right now.

Have you ever had a run like that? I haven't, but I'm enjoying it, and hopefully still in it.

Any math guys no the odds of hitting like that? Maybe I need to buy a lotto ticket.

Default That's fantastic

I've had some very good runs, but nothing like 7 out of 8 pairs to sets. 100BB is amazing -- what level are you playing at?

Thinking back, my good luck/most profitable session tend to arrive not in amazing hands, but instead in sharing the table with amazing opponents, who will do things like raise against my nut flush.

I have had just the opposite, hopefully you won't be betting them as hard when the cards go cold.

I raise and reraise every pocket pair in limit. Almost always anyway, always an exception.

Hellmuth gave me that strategy. Good way to represent.

hah i got on a rush like this the other night, got aces 5 times, kings once, jacks at least once that i remember. some smaller pocket pairs i flopped a set with one of them, flopped a set of kings. other than the sets, every other pocket pair was broken. kinda funny when someone raises in 1st position, i put him on AJ or better, i have AA, so i dont reraise. flop comes 678, he goes all in i call, he shows 59o. silly fuckers.... and that wasnt even the worst beat that night hahah

Count your lucky stars, and be very cautious, for the game giveth, the game taketh away.

Default Best run I ever had

My best run, and i say its the best because of the circumstances, was as follows.

Little over a year ago, during the Sunday 215 buy in on party, we were down to around 80 players. Back then, 1st prize was only (i say only compared to what it is now) 30 k i think, and only 600 ish people were in the tourney. I had around 5k in chips, and average was about 7500. I picked up AA two off the button, guy in early position with a monster stack raised, i moved in, he called, and i doubled up. Now at around 10k.

Two hands later, on the button, i had 88...one guy made the minimum raise, it was called by another player ahead of me, i called for odds and position even though i smelled aces, and the big blind folded. Flop came 8 5 something, rainboow. BB checked, original bettor moved in for like 5 k, next folded, i smooth called, BB check raised all in....i was lovin this... i called of course....BB had 55, original had AA like i thought, my set holds up. At this point i had like 25 k or so, and average was only 7500.

Two hands later( sense a pattern?) I pick up KK in the BB. one guy raises about half his stack, cant remember the amount, I put him in, he calls with QQ, and i add another 8k or so to my stack.

I rode that fortuante run to the final table, where i finished 7th for a nice little payday. Of course, I was horribly pissed that I didnt win, and it took me a while to be happy with 7th, but I am now....kind of

I know how you feel, I went out in 8th place in a $50 + 5000 added tourney on UB. Afterwards I was pissed off for days about being so close to a big payday and screwing it up. All-in with A10 vs AK, stupid, dtupid ,stupid me. One lapse in judgement really screwed me there.

Odds of hitting a set on the flop is 1:11, so I must say, that is quite nice. Trips will either iwn a big pot, or lose a big one as well.
