How long till they offer a Million Dollar game?
It has to be coming, right? Party Poker now has the "Step Higher" games which are simlar to the Steps games only more expensive to start and harder to advance in but the big prize is 100 grand this time around It can't be long until the top prize in one of these gimmick games hit a million dollars can it?
Even though this has to be the biggest -EV game on the net right now it is things like this that keep Party leaps and bounds ahead of Stars in my opinion. If Party were to offer more low buy in tournaments like Stars does I think they could do alot of damage to Stars customer base. I kinda hope it happens because I am pissed at Stars for flat out stealing an idea I sent them without the courtesy of a thank you e-mail, would it have killed them? Anyway, back to the original question, how long till we see a Million dollar game on the web? I say this year for sure.

I predict there will be a Million Dollar online prizepool in the next 6 months. Probably at this year's WCOOP.
What was your idea that Stars stole? |

Stole was the wrong word, keep in mind that those of us living in non-gambling states have had our poker experience on the internet or from ESPN so I probably suggested something that has been happening in casinos for a while, but convienently less than 2 weeks after I e-mialed them about having games where you were limited to a single rebuy the very game started showing up and has been mildly popular. I wasn't looking for some massive comp, and they probably already had it in mind long before I brought it up, but an e-mail saying they liked the idea and were considering it would have been nice. Again, now that some time has passed and I think about it they probably had these games in Vegas loooong ago, but I had never seen it and though it would be a nice change from the unlimited rebuy all-in fest's they were having.
More to the point though, I am thinking there will be a single prize payout of a million dollars soon, not just a million dollar pool. What was the pool in last years WCOOP, wasn't it over a million? I thought first place was over $400,000?

Also people just dont understand that stars doesnt care about competing with party. When the poker fade is long gone partys fish players will dry up while Stars will have a very solid base of players. Stars is for players who are trying to build a bankroll, improve, play big tourneys, etc while Party gives people who normally wouldnt deposit a free $50 to play some hands on there sites. This is why party does a reload every month while stars could careless about giving away free money to people. Stars and FTP (IMO) are sites that are looking at the big picture and the long run while Party is just looking at the short term. Last edited by omahilo; 04-24-05 at 01:14 PM. |

[quote=omahilo]I beg to differ.
I think Party is doing just fine, and will continue to do so even after the "boom" fades.

they will be fine but Im just saying that FTP and Stars are looking at the large picture.
If poker died today and party was to lose alot of its base they would still have more money then I ever will lol. |

I saw someone post they figured Party was taking a quarter BILLION a year in rake, I actually think that guess would be a little light. Just take the SNG action going on right now. Without an exact count there are roughly 400 5/1 sng's going and 500 10/1 sng's going, 900+ games that they are taking a $10 rake from or $9000.00 There are 28 200/15 games going at $4200 in rake, let's say that very average, this would mean $13200 has been raked just from the games being played right now. Consider that most single table SNG's take about an hour I think it's fair to say this number would hold true for most any hour of the day, even if you think the number gets cut in half early in the moring we could settle on $8000 an hour as an average number to play with or $192000 a day just from those 3 price ranges. Would take about 5 days to rake a million dollars from those games or 73 million a year just from those 3 levels. With a quarter billion being equal to 250 million I think they are dragging MUCH more than a quarter billion a year, so yea, they got more money than we do. Makes you wonder how much money is really on deposit there?
Please correct any glaring errors in my math.
