Celebrity Poker
Am I the only one who thinks that this is an absolute disgrace? Talk about watering down Poker!!! What do I care what Jennie Garth plays from early position? While I understand the game is more popular now then it has ever been, when is enough enough? I think this is just brutal.
Just wondered everyone else's thoughts on the subject. |

I saw it a few times. I like it because it doesn't purport to be good poker play. It's just fun. I haven't seen it recently.

It literally pains me to watch it - from a poker perspective. But I usualy have it on in the background anyway.
Phil Gordon throws in the occasional useful tip, which is cool, and it's nice to see that sometimes the worst players destroy the best players.... just a little positive reinforcement about how important short term luck is in winning a single SNG. |

Ditto on point #1. I've never "watched" it. Gordon is cool, but sometimes it's just too obvious that he's really trying to hard too hard in the context of that awful poker.
Best/Worst was when Dave Navarro checked behind HU on the river after completing a straight! The look on his face and the subsequent "trying to play it off" move was priceless. I play with a guy like that occasionaly, that's quite possibly semi-retarded,and he plays like they do.

I have a question about Celebrity Poker...
Are they really "celebrities" if the audience has to be told "who" they are, and "what" they have acted in? Was watching the other day, and 2 black ladies who I have never seen or even heard of for that matter were the final 2 heads up.

'that is a strange call'
I LOVE it when Phil Gordon says "That was a 'strange' call" or "That was a 'strange' bet" whenever one of the players does something totally dumb. It cracks me up every single time.

Excellent point!! I think they have to be in some type of "Hollywood Rut" to qualify for the games. They're all "has-beens" from now defunct shows or bands.
