Can't hurt them since they gave up nothing. Won't put them over the top. Shaq cant guard Howard or defend the pick n roll. They still need one more piece.

Seems like a giant waste of a trade.
Too bad LeBron was 13 when Shaq was good.

Magic respond by trading Alston for Carter.
What is with trading for all-stars from years past?

Contracts. And your stupid to think shaq still isn't effective. Just because he isn't the Shaq of old doesn't mean he isn't in the top 10 centers in the league. He actually played well with Phoenix this year, Phoenix just isn't build for Shaq. However, half court with LeBron? I think the Cavs could get past the Magic easy now if they kept the whole team. If they lose Turkoglu, there is not point in even talking about the magic.
Yo Dawg, what happened to your business idea?

He's not worth the $20m or whatever he is making next year and I don't think the Cavs got a good bang for their buck considering what they need.
Yeah, he's effective to a point. But, the Cavs were one unbelievably impossible shot from getting roflstomped in the Conference finals. Is an aging big guy that probably will just slow them down for the first 80% of the season and STILL can't hit free throws really be the missing piece? I've gotta think that sometime over the summer would've been a great time to get a better fit for the team. ------------- It's still an idea looking for someone that is willing to invest. Apparently, it isn't the best time right now. Kinda sucks because we only have 10/11 pages in a business plan and the guy who has the info for a more in-depth plan is dragging his feet. If I could make $500,000 appear out of no where, I'd be freaking set. I wish I had 2 months where I could do nothing but shop a working model to American, Delta, Virgin Airlines, etc

Who said he wasn't effective? Even with Shaq this year they don't beat the magic. And Shaq was pretty damn good this year.

You say they were one impossible shot from being swept...with Shaq, I think the Cavs could have swept the Magic, but would have won in 5.
Game 1: The Cavs are up by 19 in the 1st quarter. Without an inside scoring threat, they can't hold the lead. Rashard makes some clutch shots just to win that game. If they dumped it inside to a Shaq, the clock runs down before the Magic have a chance to come back. Game 2: He IS unbelievable, Cavs win. Game 3: Legit Magic win. Game 4: The Magic go to D. Howard 3 TIMES in the first 90 seconds in the OT period for dunks, because the Cavs have nobody to put a body on howard. He abuses Varejao. That is after Lewis makes a sick shot at the end of Regulation. Shaq can make efficient baskets that minimizes the workload required of the LeBron show. Cavs win this game if they have Shaq to defend Howard, and not such an exhausted LeBron. Game 5: Legit Cavs win. Series over. And by the way, Shaq's contract expires next year, and they dumped Big Ben's contract to get him. So when LeBron is a FA they have max money. This was a good trade, and Shaq would have carried teh cavs to the Finals, IMO.

I dunno.
Shaq can't guard Lewis and Turkaglououououueoueoueeoueoueou and he definitely can't convince Mo Williams or some other bit player to make needed jump shots when everybody (including bench players) collapse on LeBron at the same time. As for the contract thing, the Cavs better win a championship next year. For me, that seems to be the only way LeBron wouldn't jet for the bright lights somewhere.

So you think the Magic were going to just let Shaq dunk the ball and not foul him? Or not put the best defensive center in the league on him?
While Dwight Howard was a beast he isn't the guy that killed the Cavs. It was Rashard Lewis who did and who the Cavs still don't have anyone to guard him.

Because they were constantly double teaming Dwight. The sonics were ggrrrrrrreat with both Lewis and Allen. Hmmm, now they are both winning. Lemme think, what do they have in common?

I'm with Wes on this. All you have to do with Howard is muscle him. That's why Howard himself called his toughest matchup Kendrick Perkins. Shaq is strong enough to to take Howard off his game by shoving and hacking a la Perk.

Let me lay this one out for ya and remove the sarcasm from Tony the Tiger. The sonics sucked with both of them. Now they are both winning because they have quality big men, D. Howard and KG. Unless of course you think Danny Fortson was a quality big man, in which case my point is invalid. But then that would make you invalid to comment on basketball.

Hmmm, Kendrick at 280 lbs with less mobility than Shaq at 325. Thanks Kurn for adding legitimacy to Shaq making the cavs better.

lol
So you are saying playing with a quality big man makes any team better? And it especially helps long range shooters like Ray and Rashard. Wow that is pretty groundbreaking. I also heard from some crazy guy that having a good point guard helps big men get easy buckets. Now I always thought he was crazy but now I just don't know.

No legitimacy was needed for Shaq making the cavs better. They are better now. They still need another athletic sf wing type player and until they get one they don't have an answer for what killed them this year. The double teams hurt them somewhat but no more than the pick and roll.

I was just pointing out Rashard wasn't what killed the cavs.
