Players I know for sure Hellmuth Durr G. Laliberte Cunningham should be interesting, watched the preview on nbc.com and Phil is up to his old antics. Accussing someone of slow rolling, saying he was set up......etc etc etc. lolol BEAT: no cable for me tonight; charter sucks big donkey dongs VARIANCE: Directv will be here in the morning! |

Thanks for posting this.
I actually tuned in and really enjoyed the episode. I'm going to record the rest of the week. Good stuff. Serious question about Phil Hellmuth: How can someone be SO VERY VERY GOOD at tourney poker and so VERY VERY BAD at cash games? I mean, he's horrible. I seriously think I could sit at a table with him and be the better cash games player. He looks totally lost in every hand he plays and makes one hugely -EV after another. |

If anyone hasn't seen this yet, it's worth watching, IMO. This is 6 handed NLHE. 200/400 with a 100 ante.
Hellmuth has already busted 100k - the last 17k of it was from a set over set cooler, but the rest was from pretty horrible play, IMO. And my God he tilts easily. I seriously can't believe that after all these years, he still hasn't learned to control himself at the table. It's pretty silly. |

No matter what he does he bitches. And he checks all the way down and lets the guy hit his straight and still manages to say how great he is.
I also don't think Mike Baxter slowrolled him...just my opinion. |

Its up on pokertube. At least I know mondays episode was as of yesterday afternoon.
And, fwiw, Baxter said he DID slowroll and apologized. GOLD |

Yeah, I heard that, but I have a feeling he was just trying to apease him. I think he thought he may have been beat. I think the apology was to shut him up. |

watched these when i was playin today and these 2 episodes made me dislike phil Hellmuth more than anything else I've ever seen and also realize he honestly is bad at cash he made a few terrible plays.
And durr seemed like the best player at the table. Oh and viffer seemed like a douche. I've played them both back in the day and I'm sure donated a few of those chips to um they were playin with.

I really really doubt that Mike Baxter meant to slowroll Phil. With that being said, by definition he did slowroll him, but apologized later.

No comments on the hand last night between PH and Durr? If you havent seen it you MUST. It was honestly one of the most intereting and compelling TV hands I've ever seen.
I think we were really really close to seeing Philly Phil sent to a rubber room! |

It was brilliant. The funny thing is, when Durr faked the beginning of the call (angle-shoot), Phil instantly saw this and faked the beginning of turning his hand over. THAT moment was the first time I've been impressed with anything Phil has done all week.
So Durr sees that and changes his mind. He somehow KNEW his bottom pair was good , but that slight misread in the end cause him to lay it down. Of course, Phil is on top of the world now and from the preview's of tonight's episode will continue to be for a while. But let me tell you, if durr called there, Phil goes absolutely apeshit insane. I can see him storming off the set and not even coming back. If he did play any more, he'd lose every dollar he put on the table. Bummer. |

Okay, I just watched this hand. Not a slow roll. Phil is just a whiny little baby.
Phil wants to talk to people about manners, how about DON'T TALK ABOUT PEOPLE IN THE THIRD PERSON AS THOUGH THEY ARE NOT THERE!!!! Holy crap! That has got to be the rudest, most irritating thing ever, and it is a major part of his personality at the table. I am suprised he doesn't look up at the camera when he says it. Phil, when we want to know what you are thinking (and trust us, we already know), we'll ask.

Phil is great for TV poker because he's great theater.
But, yes, he has no credibility criticizing people's manners. FWIW, if I were ever at a table with him in a live event (OK, I call BS on myself since I'm about a billion to one dog to ever be at a table with him), I will slowroll his ass if the opportunity arises and if he whines, I'll get in his face (well, maybe in his chin, I'm 8 inches shorter) and read him the riot act in a voice loud enough to be heard across even the Amazon Room (this is not BS, I do have the voice for it). Nice pipe dream since it will probably never happen, but if it ever did, I'd sew up 2nd place in the PH confrontation hierarchy trailing only Sam Grizzle.

Is this season all cash games?

Dont think so, but it should be imo. I hardly ever watch PAD, and I watched all of the cash game.
Also, I read a link somewhere that the WPT was picked up by Fox sports net, and they are planning 1 hour shows to air on Sunday nights. Lamer and lamer all the time. And with high stakes poker in limbo, nbc would be smart to switch to cash game only (or at least mostly) for PAD. |

Agree completely. I do like a lot of the WSOP coverage on ESPN, but I definitely prefer the cash games for sure.

FWIW I believe that hellmuth is advertising his image of being easy to get him on tilt and being a "bad" player in cash games. the cash games on tv are probably way below what he normally plays so he can afford to mold his player image. when it comes to the wsop, i think he plays seriously because all he cares about is winning bracelets. this may sound a little unbelievable but i am just speaking my mind.
