After my break
I took about a month off, as posted previously. I recently broke up with my gf of 5.5 years, so a lot more time on my hands. I played a bit last night, just getting back into the habits, netted $12.
Today, I played for about 3 hours and netted $102. What was I thinking taking a break and letting all you bastards take the fishies money? Never again do I take damn break from online poker, it is just too easy. I know other people had planned on breaking, so how did you fair if you have come back, or are you still on the outside looking in?

Geoff, do you ONLY play 08; or do you mix the games, levels, limit/no-limit etc.?

This was a long time ago, but...
I took a one month break about a year and a half ago... not because I needed to because I was losing all the time or anything, but because I needed to know I could quit if I had to. I was spending way too much time playing online, and was worried I was getting addicted.
When I came back, I began the best (three or four month) stretch of poker I've ever had. |

Needless to say, you've been addicted ever since.

Not really. It's different now... I play a lot less (too busy with other stuff), but more importantly, I know I could quit completely if I needed to. I wasn't so sure before...

Why would you "need" to quit? If lost your roll maybe, but that shouldn't happen to a solid player like yourself.

Time. Neglecting too many things that shouldn't be neglected.
And the one I was the most afraid of.... having a bad run that got worse and worse and worse. You've heard about it happening. A guy loses, goes on tilt, moves up, loses more, etc, etc, and the next thing you know, it's all gone. That didn't happen to me, but I have some gamble in my blood. I can feel those tendencies. |
