Tight starting card selection; aggressive post flop play
Here's why you don't play passively in LHE after the flop. I was ready to lay down to a raise on the flop, but this guy just called, leaving the door open for me.
I had a feeling he had KK, but the pause he made on the flop (almost timed out) made me sure a bet on the turn could fold him out. He told me he had KK right after I showed the QQ on his fold. ***** Hand History for Game 1640461455 ***** 3/6 TexasHTGameTable (Limit) - Thu Feb 24 10:09:46 EST 2005 Table Table 13119 (Real Money) -- Seat 8 is the button Total number of players : 10 Seat 1: daman1010 ( $156) Seat 2: PShabi ( $132) Seat 3: PTasstmngr ( $142) Seat 4: TumTum2563 ( $64.75) Seat 5: Frelled ( $109) Seat 6: k2ps__ ( $229.5) Seat 7: Drainyou2 ( $198.5) Seat 8: WIT2WIN ( $116.5) Seat 9: twix0 ( $15<0) Seat 10: rock270380 ( $92.5) rock270380 posts small blind (1) daman1010 posts big blind (3) Drainyou2 posts big blind + dead (4) ** Dealing down cards ** Dealt to PShabi [ Qd, Qc ] PShabi raises (6) to 6 PTasstmngr folds. Nice read and nice play based on the read.
I'm too often guilty of making a read and then discarding that info. |

Yeah,
It was an easy read because I've played him a lot before. I was at work, so I didn't have my Poker Tracker stats, but I remembered his style. This play only worked because a) he knew I was a solid player and b) I knew he was capapble of laying down a good hand. Most players aren't letting go of KK that easy. Just an awful play to call the flop by him though. No brainer to raise here.
