Default Table attire/accessories?

Do you guys give much though to what you wear when playing B&M? I find at my local 3/6 game outside of Seattle that I tend to assume young guys wearing sunglasses are easy marks, but give much respect to older guys wearing cowboy hats.

I wanted to do the Jersey jacket thing, but was afraid of people making unibomber jokes, So I wore my snow parka with the hood a pulled up tight, it was hotter then hell and people called me Kenny's dead. Now they call me the coal miner, cause I wear a coal miners helmet with a lamp on it. If they try to read my eyes I flip it on and blind them.

2Tone, this is not meant to offend, but if you are making decisions about your opponents' playing styles based on what they wear, you are not going to do very well.

The only thing that matters is how they play their hands. To take advantage of this, you need to be perceptive, you need to have a good memory, and you need to know how to use that information against them.

Default Of course

The minute you get a decent read on an opponent, they could be wearing a chicken suit for all that it matters. Still, while certainly not in all cases, I've found some generalizations (clichés?) hold pretty true. In my experience, young guys in sunglasses are often too aggressive. I view anything other than how any particular player plays their cards as secondary info, but potentially helpful none the less.

Default Fair enough

I see what you're saying, but how long does it take you to get a read on an opponent.

A couple of hands should give you more information than what clothes they are wearing.

By the way, it has been my experience that blind people absolutely suck at poker.

I also find young guys with shades think they are pro. I personally believe attire should be comfort based since you'll be sittin' for a long time.

i agree on the comfort front. of course this varies for every player. some might be comfortable in sweat pants and a t shirt, while others wear a shirt and tie. to each their own.

the only things that annoy me at a table are sunglasses at low limits. well, i guess it doesnt annoy me so much, it more just makes me laugh.

I wear, like someone else said, whatever is comfortable. Often just a t-shirt and jeans, and that's pretty much it. I'm not all for glasses so I don't wear them much.

I think most people who where sunglasses aren't at a level even near to where opponents get tells off there eyes. They just thinks it makes them look cool and all the pros do it right.

I'm usually not a fan of sunglasses or headphones. The weather will usually determine the type of shirt I wear. When it's cold, I will try to go hoodie or sweatshirt... I hate wearing a coat/jacket in the casino - there's just no room.

Default I kid you not

Played a few days at the CNE Casino in Toronto this summer and did fairly well.

There was this young kid around 20yrs old wearing the baggy clothes ( I called him Eminem)....
Anyways, he knew the rules, wasn't very strong but was hitting hands left and right....
Now he wasn't the brightest bulb out there and that's for sure...
he was sitting at the #2 Seat and I at the #4 seat.... (11 handed so I am basically looking dead at him when facing forward and a hair to my right.)
So, as I was saying, this guy thought he was Mr. Poker God.....
And every so often he would put his sunglasses on... Usually after losing a big pot.....

Did I mention they were mirrored sunglasses?
It was great, I would check my cards every time he leaned in to look at his cards.... I kept count and saw his cards 16 times over the course of the afternoon...
Only one hand of note....He had KK and was mid-position and raised with KK.
I had K-J or K-Q and was able to dump them with my newfound knowledge.

True Story.

That's gotta be the coolest thing ever. I wish I had a superpower that would tell me other peoples' hole cards. It would be great to not have to worry about reading people. You could play it off like you're a genius by calling people out.

They'd be amazed.

Enough wishful thinking.

Sunglasses may be a bit silly yes Even though they can help, not because youre not giving away tells, but because you can look at someone without them knowing it.

I personally like headphones though, not to distract anyone, just kind of something to keep me focused as well as keeping me off tilt (metal calms me down ya know ). It is pretty silly though to go for the biggest earmuffs you can find at radioshack...

Default Everything to help me keep a poker face!

If it is with friends, I play as I am. If it is with people I do not know, I use everything I can to disguise my play; that including a walkman if it is permitted.

Default dont matter to me

i will wear a pink dress and tata's. My poker is based on others not myself. If they get a tell on me i will congratulate then and then call them a liar. I dont smile ever around the tables. I dont get mad unless its online. I play a lot like hellmuth in that when i get sucked out i have the same one liners as he has. ie how do you call that much on a draw, time for a rebuy. shit like that.

LMFAO.

If you guys are ever in the Toronto area, I ask you to get on a Markham 102 bus during rush hour. Until you do that, you have no right to say someone stunk to high heaven, because I believe I've been there .
