Default AC Trip Report

Went down on Friday planning on playing 5/10 NL mostly and maybe hitting up some prelim WPT Summer Open tournies which started on Monday. Also was with a guy I was staking for the game. I mentioned earlier, he was a very good player, but tilted worse than anyone Ive ever seen.

Got in Friday around 9 and checked in and headed down tothe poker room. We only played till around 2:30 AM, ate something and then went to bed. I was card dead most of the night, eventually picked off a nice bluff and was up 1200 but naturally get set over setted a few hands later and leave up $260. My friend left up $2800. Good start

Woke up Sat ate and hung out by the courtyard outside by the pool for a while -- nice day out. After going back up to the room we put in a 4 hour session and intended to go out to Mur Mur that night. I had a nice session and picked up $3800 and my friend had a + $50 session. We intended on going to Mur Mur that night but my friend didn't bring shoes w him and you couldnt get in without. We ended up going to Mixx the other club in the Borgata instead, but the difference between the two was like night and day. Music was eh, setup was eh and the girls were BAD. Total opposite of Mur Mur.

Woke up Sunday hung out shopped for a bit and then played again. My friend had a nice 1300 session I ended up down 500 after being up 2000 to begin with. Went out with two cocktail waitresses that we met later that night to some dive bar which served 24/7 and stayed till about 6 (didnt get there till 4:15) by the time we were home and everything it was 630 and we flipped a coin to decide if we were gunna play in tomorrows 400 +50 event. It came up heads which meant play, so since neither of us were that tired yet and sleeping a few hours was probably dumb we decided to break night for the tournament (prob not the best idea). Went in the jacuzzi ate and bullshited around until the tourny started at 11. 8k in chips 40 minute levels and 25/50 blinds to start. I got knocked out 4.5 hours in the 300/600 level when I open shoved 22 from 5th position with about 5800 in chips and got called by QQ. In retro I probably could have waited a little more but whatever. Ended up goin to bed at around 4 -- only slept till 730 then went to play again.

Both of us ended up losing this session -- maybe bc we were tired or maybe it was coincidence. I thought I played fine, but just got unlucky in a few spots (QQ vs JJ i reraise pre w JJ he smooth calls flop comes QJx...uh yea thats 2x now for the trip thanks guys!). My friend was up $1700 or so until he lost a monster pot on a terrible call/suck out. Here's the action.

5 way limp pot. Flop: A 6 4

SB leads out $50, BB calls $50, My friend raises to $150. MP smooth calls $150 LP folds SB reraises to $650, BB shakes his head and folds, my friend shoves for $3200 or so MP tanks for a few minutes and then calls for less ($2100 or so) SB is like WTF is goin on here???? and eventually folds

SB had A6, BB had A4 my friend had 66 and MP had A2. Um WHAT???? Because your pair probably matters at this point???? This sick thing is if a diamond does hit the turn we have basically zero redraw outs since almost all our boat cards are dead

Naturally River is 5 ending things and shipping a 5k+pot to opponent.

If I had used my head I'd have pulled him off the table down $600 at that point since I know how he gets... but Im an idiot. He made a ?? call on the river with KT on a KJT75 board when opponent made a PSB (with 77).

He reupped $1500 and spewed that away before walking away for the night. He dropped $3k and I dropped $1335 for the sessions. Great night huh.

After talking to him about keeping his head right we returned the next day (Tues). I was up about $1600 until my Kings ran into Aces and I made the wrong read...I'll also play out the hand

Villain makes it $60 from the button, I repop from the BB to $200 folds around to villain who makes it $450. I call.

Flop comes J 9 8. I check villain bets $1025. I tank for a while and finally come to the conclusion that he is overbetting the pot bc he has QQ and puts me on AK and doesnt wanna see more cards so I put him all in for $1100 or so more. He doesnt call right away, so Im thinking I was right at first but then he eventually does call and flips AA (i guess he was slightly worried about JJ). The turn is a Q river blanks. The sick thing is that if he bets like 650 or something I just call then the turn slows us both down since I can beat only AK and he can beat only AK/KK and I dont double him up. That left me with $200 bucks which I turn into $500 b4 tables combine and Im the one left out. I play blackjack win $500 and return tot he table with $1k. It was late night the table was playing 7 2 for $50 a head...ok Im in. In 4 hours I have to ship out $150 AND NEVER EVEN GOT DEALT THE DAMN HAND ONCE!

My friend during this session got unlucky again when he reraises pre with QQ and the flop came JTx with two diamonds. He bet out $350 opponent shoved for $700 total he called. Opponent flipped AQ and hit a flush on the river (2nd diamond flush...hmmm). My friend was short but then tripled up and eventually built his stack back to $1500 (even) then a crazy hand occurred. UTG limped LP bumped it to $75 my friend calls OTB w 97. SB (donk) calls. UTG repops it to $265. PFR calls, my friend calls SB calls. Flop comes 9 9 9....hmmm. UTG bets $500, LP spazzes out for 5 minutes wondering WTF is going on and eventually folds QQ, my friend calls, SB shoves with JJ, UTG player jumps out of his seat wondering WTF is goin on (he only has AK and isnt calling anyway but...) and the folds my friend calls and wins a nice pot.

The last night we were there we had a very easy table (actually was real tough in the beginning when they were in the process of opening a new 10/20 NL table and a lot fo the 10/20 players were sitting in this game first) I won 1600 my friend 2300. We went out that night to AC Bar and Grill (the "jumpin" place around AC on wed nights) it was ok but the place was VERY cliquey w everyone seeming like they knew each other

In the end a solid trip and I ended up on my friends stake although not w/o its share of headaches (see monday night)

Might be back on Tues/Wed/Thurs next week as he got a comped room for us again.... this time fri and sat were comped but we had to pay for sun-wed

Hope u guys enjoyed it, sorry if its long

VN, ty. I plan on compiling all the trip reports eventually. What casino(s) did you play at and what did they spread in general? How was the competition and player make-up?

For this trip I played exclusively at the Borgata. As far as NLHE they spread 1-2 ($100-300) 2-5 ($200-500) 5-10 ($500-$2000) 10-20 ($1000-5000). On the weekends they usually have a $10-25 ($2500- No Cap) and a 25/50 ($5000 - No Cap) and a 50/100 getting off during WPT events etc

Competition was average at the 5/10, some good and some bad. If you moved down to 1/2 or 2/5 competition was overall pretty bad

Default Excellent report

Thanks for the post. Sorry it wasn't more profitable, but sounds like a blast none the less.

Picking up cocktail waitress til six in the morning (Cue Snoop Dogg song), then coinflipping to see if you are going to play a major tourney -- that's some high-grade degenerate behavior right there.

Just noticed -- pleased to have this be post 1500.

Brag: Came home +$6k for 6 days after expenses so can't really complain (including what I made on the other guys stake)

and lol, yea the coinflip deal is kinda degen.

Beat: Borgata employees can't come up to the room area or they lose their jobs

This was tl;dr for me for a while, but I finally made the time for it tonight.

Good stuff.
